I know the first time you started this thread, it was a mistake and now you're doing it right because people answered that thread, anyways. That previous sentence of mine was a demonstration of my amazing skills of perception.
NEIL PEART would laugh if he saw his name up here.

none - that is a terrible list of drummers, a few decent ones - Neil Peart is the only extremely exceptional one......and yes i've heard all of them, and yes i know a thing or two about drums
just to mention a few greats from the metal scene ...
Kai Hahto (Rotten Sound)
Steve MacDonald (Gorguts)
Asgeir Mickelson (Spiral Architect)
Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy)
Sean Reinart(Cynic)
Marcelo Ruiz (Coprofago)
Dennis Röndum (Spawn of Possession)
Dan Ford (Commit Suicide)
John Sankey (Devolved)
David Haley (Psycroptic, The Amenta)
Jordan Varela (Lividity, Lust of Decay, Domination Through Impurity)
Nils Feldstrom(Sanctification)
Mike Hamilton(Deeds of Flesh)
Arttu(ex-Aeon)
Brad(Devourment)
Robbe(Disavowed)
Gene Hoglan(Death)
Tony L(ex-Nile)
Missile(Vital Remains)
Pete (Morbid Angel)
Whoever the drummer is in Capharnaum
Whoever the drummer is in Comsosquad
i know im missing tonnes of greats like every jazz drummer out there and all the virtuosos
that drum with greg howe, and those jazz/fusion/funk/blues/guitar masters

obviously it is opinion of what makes an exceptional drummer, i don't know how it is, but i personally find joey jordinson to be the greatest drummer

thats like saying my opinion is kurt kobain is the greatest guitarist
no hes not hes one of the worst famous gutiarists ever....he wrote some cool songs...even i like nirvana....but he has no real guitar talent at all.................
slipknot's drummer joey aint bad, hes fast on the db, but hes unoriginal, he aint very good on the cymbals, and not very good with timing (every slipknot song is so simple mostly 4/4), his rolls are weak, just to name a few things - hes a mediocre metalcore drummer at most if you as me or any credible drummer that can play half decently i'd think

btw i really like trivium but not for their drumming

i suppose, anyone hu says kurt cobain was a greatest guitarist is wrong sure, i mean jsut because u idolise them doesnt make them good. i mean my no.1 fav band of all time is korn, my band are all 15/16 year olds and we can play everyone of there songs, there music is very simple. but im not claiming that any of them have any major skill, its there style and music im a fan of. i cud have easily said david silvaria (of korn) is the greatest drummer, i kno this isnt true, im comfortable with my desision joey jordinson as i havnt personally heard a greater drummer, and ive never met anyone who can fully play a slipknot song on drums, because joey must create the drum beats on the spot as they are sometimes spontanious and i find very creative with the way they play off the guitar. if your sure he isnt the greatest drummer in existance, atleast hes the best doublebasser

Man, it was a toughie between Peart and Bonham, but I decided to go with Peart. I was just listening to 'Freewill' this morning before I went to work. Dude can play.

I would have to say Buddy Rich, even though he's long gone by now and most people won't know who he is he was fucking amazing. For today's drummers I'd have to say Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater or Mike Lopez from Opeth. The drummer from Nevermore kicks ass too.

i agree lars ulrich sucks. but metallica is more axing on musicality and guitar. he could do better im sure but its just not their style to be some hard heavy metal (well in any case not anymore)
even if i dont like pretty much death and black metal, most of their drummers kick ass.

wow, this shows the average age in this forum very well. All of you who voted for someone other than John Bonham need to listen to Moby DIck by Led Zep. You'll change your minds quickly.
