"Looking out for our national interest" would involve the use of alternative fuel sources such as biodiesel, ending our dependence on foreign nations for fossil fuels.

our idea of national security is whats best for the consumer and the enviroment..asshole scumbags like president G.W. Shrub thinks national security is protecting his family's and friends finacial intrests ...while poluting as much of the planet as possable with depleted uranium shells from illegal war's and toxic byproduct's from the petroleum industry...

The gas companies did release an explanation for the sudden price hike in gassoline. the king of Saudi Arabia died, then within 5 hours his brother become the new king. hence, we're all paying considerbly more for gas

Does anyone know if using a little acetone mixed in with the gas really can increase MPG up to 35%? http://pesn.com/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/ I'm thinking about trying it and if acetone does really help why doesn't the government put it in the gas to begin with?

Gas prices are high so that bush can have another war
Also past presidents when gas prices were high used to dump reserves on the market
also the difference between untaxed diesel and road diesel is 40 cents

If you have a car with a diesel engine you can run biodiesel or a mix of biodiesel/petro. Biodiesel is derived from vegetable oil, as well as hemp oil.

Howdy treeclimber,

Gas is expensive, because environazis prevented the building of new refineries and nuclear power plants and prevented the use of domestic oil and gas fields, both on-shore and off. As for the Iraqi oil,it's meant to be sold on the world market to help rebuild Iraq..not to improve our strategic and tactical posture in regards to energy independence. If the russians or chinese were in Iraq, they would sieze all of the oil and natural gas for their own use, with no payment rendered.

Have a good one ...

LOL! Torog, you always provide the laughs, you're great! Oil sold on world market to help re-build Iraq?? What planet do you live on? I'm sure al the profits made by selling gas 1.10$ a litre in Canada go straight to rebuilding Iraq... Because the entire developped world has to pay for the US's fuck ups.

The war is about oil; Bush hookig up his oil boys and making them rich (payback for helping him grease the election rails) while we get porked.

And it is not about extra refineiries either. You can not tell me that the demand on oil has increased that much since Clinton was in office (reasonable prices and balanced budget) that a couple of extra refineiries in the US is going to make a difference. The refinery issue is just a Republican excuse to justify the rape of the American public.

If the us was a coperation, Bushie would be on trial for the way he is running things!

they wouldn't want to lose money now would they? how much do you want to bet that the "mission to mars" is actually a plan to find on oil on the planet. if this happens all hell is going to break loose. nobody can own the universe, it's for everyone...uh oh?

I dated a guy about 6 or 7 years ago whose dad was a scientist & had developed a car that ran on water. He won all sorts of awards. I was so surprised, like yay, now there will be an alternative car! My then boyfriend said it wasn't such a big deal; similar technology had been available for years. He said that it's widely known in those circles that inventions like his dad's will never actually hit production, due to the government & its heavy involvement in oil. Sad.
