The gas prices are out of control. It is already $3.09 a gallon in San Francisco. I can't figure out if it is Bush giving us the screwing to the benefit of his "oil boys" or our so called Arabic allies rolling out some economic terrorism. Either way, it sucks!
I am leaning toward Bushy boy, given his lack of outrage. Heating prices are going to be through the roof this winter as well. So I pray and pray that the democrats win the next presidential election which they will unless the republcannazis rig another one. ARGH!!!
I realize this probably should have been in the political forum but oh well.

Gas is up to $2, or over, actually. low 2's. I remember when it was 99 cents here 10 years ago. I don't care, though. What's gas?

That's what happens when you have a president too close with the energy industry. High gas prices, high electrical prices, the power grid still hasn't been fixed, Bush doesn't give a fuck!
Ya im from Northern VA and its $2.54right now....it sucks, i remember when it was 89 cents around here 10 years ago too...i wish it was still that way

it's all manipulative and if you thionk about it its like $20 for a barrel which is prolly like 50-80 gallons and if gas is an average of 2.60 a gallon like it is here then someones making a huge profit...while we fucking get gouged, i put $15 in my tiny ass tank a few days ago and it filled it up a little more than half way up. retarded gas proces, i remember it was like $1.50 back with clinton. Lets bring that fool back!@!!!!!...... lol stupid retarded govt. fuck you bush and bush sr.

gas in upstate newyork is about 2.50$ per gallon. i own a car and i've put every penny i have trying to keep that tank full. maybe we will all be driving around hydrogen powered cars soon. At least its better here than a lot of other places. i heard there are places in middle America where it is like twice as much.

Well its not really that suprising...when you consider President Bush is on his last term.....Oh yeah did I mention that they own and do dealings with SEVERAL OIL COMPANIES. Its all BS......everything is about padding your own pockets. If any of us did half of what the politicians do...we would be in JAIL! Well I have an 8 cylinder Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited....Cost me over 30 bucks....and I had a half a tank when I filled it. 60 bucks for a fill up.. NICE

Don't blame bush. It's the chinese!
The chinese demand for oil and gas has gone WAY up. You all don't understand the concept of Supply and Demand, do ya? China is just now coming into its own, using up as much oil as we do and they end up paying more so they get the first dibs. Then we have to pay more.
Gas prices around here are like 2.59. I get it for 2.38, and rising. It's going to spike up a little, then settle around 2.40 give or take till we run out in a few years.

BTW this is why it's going up
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5612507/
Oil prices settled at a record high near $67 Friday, as U.S. refinery outages looked set to test gasoline supplies in the worldâ??s biggest-consuming nation.
The threat of hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico and concerns over Iranâ??s decision to resume uranium-conversion activities also fueled the price increase, analysts said.
But some traders said purely speculative buying was a big factor behind the $10 per barrel surge in just over three weeks.
â??This is a bubble that will have to burst at some point,â? said Mike Fitzpatrick, an oil broker at Fimat USA in New York. A large increase in supply or a noticeable dropoff in demand will be needed to end the buying frenzy, he said.

I do understand the law of supply and demand. The US keeps an oil reserve that would last a MINIMUM of 6 years. Thats 6 years of never letting a drop of oil enter any of our ports. Gas is high for a variety of reasons right now. But all I said was that its a little bit funny that the Bush Family ownes OIL companies and have BUISNESS dealings with all the people who control the oil prices. Im just calling it like it is. I mean I know that If I owned oil companies....and my time running the US was limited....hey why not run up the prices ....make my billions and who really cares that the little people are gettin crushed. Not that ol George W. has done anything that millions of other people haven't done before......

you all should ride bycycles its alot cheaper than a car and u dont gotta pay for gas. and if ur goin long distances u can ride the bus. cars a just a waste of money they are expensive to own, and as u all know well gas is expensive and it prolly wont get any cheaper anytime soon. so invest in gasoline alternatives cause were gonna be using them more and more from here on out.

knock it off with the conspiracy theories cause it aint true. the reason prices are high is because there arent enuff refineries and a bunch of the refineries in the US are extremely old and a few of them blew up this week. and nobody wants to build new refineries because they are dirty and expensive. so there u got thats y gass prices are high. that and the fact that the price for a barrel of oil keeps going up thanks to those terrorist in the middle east tha keep blowing up oil drilling platforms. all this means we need to invest in gasoliune alternatives like i said because oil wont be around for ever anyway.

I paid 2.54 per gallon a couple of days ago... I too remember when it was 90 cents a gallon, about 8 years ago. Wahhh...
I do think that there's one good thing about this crisis, & it's that it raises our awareness of our dependance on foreign oil, & makes us look at other options. People are finally beginning to carpool more, look at cars with lower gas mileage, take public trans, etc. I bought a bicycle for running errands close-by, & am considering a Vespa for stuff a bit further. It's sad that it takes something like this to happen for us Americans to get our heads out of the sand.

I don't think anybody mentioned what they pay in places in Europe, which equals over $5 a gallon! They just drive smaller, more fuel effiecient cars, so it evens out.

there are many alternatives but all the BIG countries still rely on oil. Used cookin oil can be used for powering diesel engines no emissions aswell. Also theres a company in USA somewhere that actually makes oil using a process called depolymerisation it speeds up natures way of making oil. LPG is another but that would probably just go like oil.

If you consider inflation, gas is actually cheaper than it was over 20 years ago.

Yeah but a lot more people drive then they did 20 years ago. I need to stop paying for gas and use that money to save up for one of those honda fuel cell cars http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/rr/03fcx.htm

Gas used to be about 2.12 a gallon here, now the lowest we can find is 2.50 a gallon.
And suddenly...there was a steep increase of traffic in the carpool lane....

Try living in Ireland. Gasoline over here can set you back as much as U.S$6-42 a gallon. in some places> Happily Ireland is a small place. I Don't have a car but if I did I'd sell it and buy weed.
RIP OFF IRELAND!

I don't think we should stop complaining, I think you should be complaining more. The people in Europe should be foaming at the mouth about their outrageous gas prices. You know those soccer (football) riots, there should be like Gas Riots over there instead.

The services they get in return lessens the impact. Public transportation is superior in Europe, so there is a choice.
There is zero choice in America unless you live in New York or DC to a certain extent.

About $2.55-2.60 for 87 octane where I live. It sucks, but to be honest it doesn't stop me from driving. I only have a Civic so compared to when it was $2.00 a gallon, that is $5 more per tank, which is basically a McDonalds meal or something. The less I eat fast food, I can spend that on gas haha.

I had a Civic CRX, I believe it was an '87, and flew through the mountains of West Virginia at 120 MPH.
and one more thing, CIVIC
The more you eat gas, the less you have to spend on food.
