Depends on how the buds were gown and/or manicured. Some are pretty densely packed and some are fluffy. I recently picked up two qtrs, each of a different strain of weed. One of the qtrs only had three buds in the whole bag. The biggest bud was about the size of my thumb and just that one bud weighed more than an 1/8. The other qtr had a lot of buds and looked to be about three times as much as the 1st one but they both weighed the same.

If you're really concerned pick up a small digital scale. You can find them for $10-$15 on e-bay. Many times I've picked up a bag and thought I got ripped off when I fisrt looked at it only to find that it weighed out once I put it on the scale.
