hellozzzzz everyone,
i'm back with more energy than before......got regenerated with the girls here, hehehehehehehehe....anyways, i've got my new grow under way.......i have planted into rockwool cubes 25 seeds out of which only 23 have sprouted......
so far i've got 10/10 for Crystal, 5/5 for Babilonia and 8/10 for Papaya......within 3 days from the beginning, the seeds have germinated and they show the first set of leaves......how long do i need to wait so as to begin the veg state?
i will post sum pics later on, i am building my new grow room as well, when i'm done i will take sum pics of it as well........take care people :)

now i have them on small rockwool cubes (germination) into the germ dome with high humidity under 2x18 watt fluoros....when should they be ready to go under the 400 hps?

Good Luck newgroweroldsmoker....Real fun!!! Hope to follow your grow..Keep posting. We can all learn from each other...I spent lots of money on this so far. The grow room was the most and the 1000 watt hps light..I failed miserably last time..So far So good this time..Thanks to the people on this site. Peace

The seedling stage can last between one to three weeks. At the end of the seedling stage your plant will have between four and eight new leaves while some of the original bottom leaves and cotyledons (leaf of an embryo of a seed) may have dropped off. In rockwood, that would be once you see roots making thier way out of the bottom of the cube. 2 or 3 inches is cool also from what I understand... Good luck to you Bro....

Newgrow, I can't believe you are asking these questions when you are an experienced grower. I saw your thread about your Lowryder grow (that was you wasn't it? or was that Heartsurgerysurvivor?
Anyway, I seem to remember seeing your stuff no?
Assuming you're going into hydro after enough germination in Rockwool, I would wait until you see just the tip of the taproot coming out of the bottom of the cube (1" cube right?), and then plant it into your hydro unit. As long as the temp is not too high under your 400W, the sooner the better. Fluoros will do fine for the first week, but get her under your good light right away. I have grapefruit going right now and they were ready in 6 days from seed to go Hydro. I have used Rockwool before, this time I used those grow plug things by GH. They are made from tree bark or something. They are pH ready, and need no added nutrients for the first week. But Rockwool is great too, as long as you know how to pH adjust and use light nutes to the right degree at first. I've always had success with it, but this grow I tried something new. I used the 1" cubes and planted to clay pebbles (Hydroton) in an ebb and flow.
I consider seedlings as the vegetation state too. As long as you have good conditions or better, everythiing is "dialed in" right, you should be ready to flower at 30 days from seed for a plant with good genetics. The longer you veg, the larger your plant may be, but that can pose a problem to the indoor grower. Some people report of flowering at 14 days from seed, to keep their plants short, resulting in less yield, but tailored to the space they have to work with.
Here's a quick checklist for you. Abide by the "laws" of good farming and you will achieve success, always.
Genetics (seed type)
Proper light and dark
Correct nutrient regimen
Constant pH monitoring & adjusting
Proper ventilation & temperature control
Adequate height and spacing (room to grow)
It is best to grow fewer plants with plenty of room for "full potential"
then to crowd as many as you think it will hold, in hopes for a higher yield.
in certain strains like AK-47, side branches can grow colas as large as the top of the plant so leave enough room for them to get good light. I will post a pic of 6 crowded AK47 that should have been only three from the start. It's hard to chop them down, or give them away when they are so healthy although crowded.
the last pics are the latest grow. 2 Grapefruit and 1 Easy Bud (Female Seeds .nl) I got from Dr. Chronics. The GF are large enough for what I have room for but I really want to see how this EB turns out. It is shorter than the GF but it very stout and thick. It is also indica/sativa cross which is different then the pure sativa of the GF.
I'm at 44 days from seed, 15 days into flowering. I hope to harvest them around September 21st. I may bend 'em down in my first attempt at screen of green (sea of green), and maximize the canopy space and light to the plants. I'm interest in seeing just how tall they will get though without being tied or bent down. I had a problem with lack of height in my last grow. Probably because I vegged my AK47 for 35 days (5 weeks). A bit long for the height of my grow space.

I fooled around with bending them over tonight. Grapefruit is said to be a scrog plant. I think it will work well with them bent over.

hey newgroweroldsmoker. If you have an HPS system of light I would look into getting a MH conversion bulb to veg. I started with the HPS and it kind of wanted to burn my young plant, too much red light. I got the MH and they loved it. Check out my thread (how's my girls doing). I am just past 21 days of 12/12. I only vegged for 21 days and they were 24 inches then. They are 30 to 32 now. Had a little nute burn and am flushing right now. It's a drip system, what are you using ? Any way good luck hope to see pics soon. I will update mine today or tomarrow.

goodmorning everyone, i hope you feel good.......anyway thanx for your interest guys.....unfortunately i am unable to post pics of the grow yet BUT do i have news for you?
today is day six from germination and day two into 24/0......that's right, yes, i have started already the veg stage......i left them for 4 days into the germination dome and WOW, i did not expect them to grow as fast as they did.....
i started the veg stage a bit earlier than anyone would expect as they were already streching, looking for more light......now they are into the larger rockwool cubes on the NFT board under the 400 HPS light.....also, i have added a fan blowing air on them, this will result on developing a stronger root system as the wind produce by the fan shakes them a bit......
total height so far is about 8 cm....i know it may sounds unreal for 6 days from seed but it's the truth......i hope the streching will stop......i believe that i will be able to switch them into 12/12 around the first of september and harvest them around late of october.....
so far i have 23 plants on a tray that can support 24 medium sized plants to full maturity.....i think i will let them grow them in veg stage up until they reach a height of
around 20 inches....then i hope i will have left around 10 females to continue with......
the only one thing that troubles me is the schedule i have to keep with the watering/usage of the pump....should i keep it working constantly or not? should i set it on a timer or not? i know the question sounds stupid as the system i am using is called NFT (nutrient film technique) but i feel i need to ask this......right now i have set things up in a 15min watering every hour.....
so far so good, the plants seem very happy under the 400 hps light and i think that in a week time they will look much much MUCH bigger......
my grow room is again home made......it measures 6x5ft (i am using half of it right now) with a max headspace of 6ft....the walls are painted flat white and i'll be using and sum aluminium foil as well.....
also, as the grow room is within a room that i do not use i have decided to make a few conversions as i did.....i have sealed the window with thick cardboard paper, the one used for making boxes, allowing some space so as to fit an old computer unit with two power fans (used for cooling the CPU, operating at low speed 24/7)....hehehehe i have build in other words a ventilation system that is in constant operation and brings fresh air from the outside.......
finally the smell will be handled by my super expensive ozone generator which have both antistatic and carbon filters...although i haven't decided where to fit that yet, i know it will not have a problem handling the smell......
oh boy, i am anxious to see them growing.....grow,grow,grow you little mf (motherfockers) i wanna smoke you.....hahahahahahahaha
take care people......i will post sum pics as soon as i am able..... ;)
NGOS:)
PS. i have one more 400watts HPS unit waiting to be added on the flowering stage...hehehehehehehe;)

update for grow number 2........
i am at the second week of vegetation now and all plants really took off......i seperated the nft trays and placed 11&12 plants on each respectively......that nutrient from Cellmax called Rootbooster really boosts the root production.....most plants are now on the third set of real leaves and we are only 13 days from seed......
today i have placed the second 400hps unit into action.....two nft trays, 6 sqft each under 400 watts of hps each.....the plants theoretically should be ready for flowering by the end of this month but since they are all from standard seeds and i can't determine sex yet i am thinking to let them grow into vegetation up until the mid of september or up until they reach 45cm/18inches of height......what do you think i should do?
also, i have started monitoring the pH&EC levels every day and adjusting them when needed....
ph of today is 5.8 and EC 1.5......room temperature is stable @ 25 degrees celcius/77F
i plan to use some co2 enrichment by using yeast and sugar, unfortunately i am not able to buy anything yet (like co2 tabs) as the local suppliers are closed for vacations :(

also one thing that i 'discovered' which is rather irrelevant to the growing process is that i have a new electronic power meter that shows the actual usage of electricity in my house......that's a cool thing, do you guys have one installed in your places?
i.e i know for a fact that now as i type this message that i am consuming (all the electrical appliances that consume power) 1.3 kilowatts/hour out of which 830 watts are the lighting units, 50 watts the fan, 20 watts the pumps, 200 watt the computer, 100 watt the monitor and 100 watt the fridge with the refrigerator.....
total cost of this (based on 24 hr operation) sums up to 6.5 us dollars for electricity every day....shit that's a lot of money and i am glad that flowering time is close :D

mine are into like day 20 in veg and its only on the 4th node! :( ah well its still quite tall due to stetching in their younger days...my bad but hey! you learn from your mistake...got mine under an enhanced hps bulb and they doing alright i say the latter of them are about 10-12" long at a rough guess...Hope your grow goes great! rooting for ya!

PS.... i have changed the time cycle tonight.....tonight they will get their first six hours of sleep....i think they deserve it and i believe that it will make good to them....from tommorrow and for a week they are going to be on 18/6....then every day that passes i will be reducing lighting half hour up until they reach the 12/12 point, which in other words will mean flowering time.... :D
PS2...looking forward to getting feedback on my pics :)
