Stupid Newb Question

I have noticed that when we are smoking out of a bowl that some people will put their hand over the bowl. What is this all about? :confused:

it's to shorten the air supply getting to the cherry in the bowl therefore letting it extinguish it's self...basicly putting it out after lighting it to either reduce the ammount of smoke being given off or to control the rate at which it's all burning up.

Bigger hits, on the metal pipe at least, I use the bowl as the carb gets a better hit more smoke hit straight to your lungs.

I'll cover it to put out the flame (flame won't burn without oxygen). Cover every hole and it'll extinguish the flame and not waste smoke. I do that when I just can't take it no more.

oh also I have only seen them do this on glass bowls.

yeah its to put out the bowl to extingusish the flame so no weed is wasted this is appreciated when your smoking someone elses weed

I think that if you introduce someone to weed you should tell them these things so that they don't feel stupid!!! It should be your obligation!!
