HPS lighting

How well would a 50W HPS light work for a very small set up? Say 5 plants tops. I am thinking about getting one, and supplimenting it with flouros as well. I am just now working up some box designs.

Some of the sellers on e-bay occasionally have 250 watt HPS setups for under $100. I'll see if I can get you a link for one of them.

That seems to be the best bang for the buck that I have seen (IF you stick to a small space)

Take a look at this one ... use the drop menu on the watt section and you'll see that the 400 watter is just $5 more than the 250 watter!

Here is my suggestion. Use floros of CFL's for vegging, and use that hps for flowering. In my opinion, hps bulbs should only be used for flowering. From the grows I've seen, using an hps for vegging, the plant stretches a lot. You get stretched out budsites and when the plant stretches during the first few weeks of flowering, they get twice as much stretched out and the result, from what I've seen, is airy, wispy, lanky buds. Just my 2cents.

I use CFL's for vegging, and hps for flowering, and my buds stay thick, compact. Good luck :cool:

How much heat did it put off, how are you cooling it? How big is your space? I am thinking about ordering the same light!!
