What's your favorite guitar that's alive.... and still playing shows and is in a band that's making cd's? I mean, what's your favorite current guitar player.

Mine is zacky vengeance from avenged sevenfold :-) what can i say, he's awesome... i love the beggining of burn it down. I don't like the lyrics from avenged sevenfold, i mean... the singing though

BOTH guitarists from UM are on point. My favorite right now has to go to hendrix, although I'm back into diggin on Micheal Akerfeltd's (of Opeth) writing.

I have 2.... Slash and Buckethead. I don't think they are the greatest or anything because Joe Satriani is friggen amazing but they are my favorite because of their look, style, and skill.

AMEN to that brother! Skynyrd are one my fav. bands EVER! "Gimme back my bullets" makes me wanna drink whiskey and shoot stuff.

My fav. player isn't alive anymore :( Sir.Dimebag Darrell friends.

But if I had to choose now! I'd have to say Mick from Slipknot, the other guy too(can't remeber his name). Theur newest album is so much more precise playing that their earlier stuff. They can both shred batman fast but still have that low chunky sound that kicks you in the teeth.

Hard to say you know, for sure. I really like Kerry King too, even the 2 guitarists from Strung Out, or Thrice even. Their good in their own league. When you're a guitar player it is so hard to choose just one :D

Brother Schenker
06-05-2006, 11:51 PM
52 posts and no one mentions Michael Schenker or Robin Trower.
Admittedly, Schenker ain't hot these days cause he's too old to play
like the blistering virtuoso he was back in the 70s and early 80s.
But his recordings are timeless. Check out Force It or Strangers In The Night by UFO.

Robin Trower can still tear it up--but his game ain't shred, it's sustain & harmonics, bluesy acid rock...pure stoner zones...check out his best album Bridge of Sighs.

And no one will ever blow your mind greater than Steve Vai.
He makes it look very easy...and yet also impossible...
You won't believe your eyes or ears...
I don't like everything he's done...but check out his album Passion & Warfare or try to find the mp3 entitled Blues Improv. It was recorded in 1999 for Guitar Player Magazine. You'll drop to your knees.

tommy iommi lost his finger tips on his left hand by somesort of cutting machine, and he mad little plastic and leather finger tips to help him play, and because the strings where tough on his fingers tommy tuned his guitars to a lower sound, thus creating a deeper, "metal" sound

I'm a "guitar freak" and to name the best one would be hard because the ones I love all sound different in their own way.

I guess the best for me to do would say who I've been listening to at the present time.
