Ok... roots grab the nutrients for the plant to grow.. so with this being said, more roots = the better??
if this were the case and since we cut branches off n dip them in hormone to make clones, could I slice the bottom of the plant up and give it some growth horomone to make it grow roots out, then sink it deeper into the soil??
feel free to laugh if this is stupid...

You are making a very broad assumption.
I prefer to have my growth from the soil up...not the soil down.
Of course you need roots....but wouldnt you rather have that growth in flowers?
Roots grow so they may have more resources to find minerals and feed for plants. They also grow to collect the water.
If you provide them with all they need....they dont have to seek and find by growing roots. You can grow a lot of weed with little roots.
So focusing on slicing roots to get more root growth isnt such a good idea. If you want roots, water very little, put them in nutrient deficient soil and or feed them root food.
You can grow roots...or you can grow flowers.
