well if you give your plant no nutrients during flowering, you'll get a very low yeild, and very low potency factor. A plant needs food to grow, you give it no food, it will most likely die. The plant will show low levels of P, causing the plants leaves to turn yellow, dry up ,and die. Can you survive and thrive without proper food? Answer that and you will know your answer.

For the vegging time, you want something high in N(N-P-K), so something like 10-5-5 for example. I use something very light at first, I use 8-7-6

For the flowering period, you want something high in P. I use 10-15-10 for the first 4 weeks or so, then I bump it up to 15-30-15 for the remainder. Some people even use 15-50-15 for super bloom, even 6-12-6 is good to use. Anything along those lines, just keep the P high during this time.

As for brands, you can use any brand pretty much, as long as the right numbers are there. Stay away from Miracle Grow products in every way. Nasty stuff, not suitable for growing herb. Use a low dose at first. Everytime you put a new fert in the soil, even the very first feeding of the plants life, always start on a low dose. Slowly increase every couple feedings, start at 1/4 strength, then 1/2, 3/4, then full. Giving your plant less food is better than too much. Overfeeding will cause a major cut in yeild, potency, and will slow growth big time. Hope this helped, good luck! Peace.
