hey guys i posted a question on the legal section but it seems everyone is in here. ok heres my story, i got caught with a roach no bigger than a finger nail and a frickin ignorant cop wrote me up a ticket to pay a $275 fine and said i had less than an ounce on me. to make a long story short he said since my record was clean, the offense will be cleared if i dont get caught with weed again in a year. well i never did and now im taking a state exam for my studies and in order for me to take it i will get screened and they will also look at the Department of Justice and the FBI to see if i have any misdemeanors ever on my record. When they screen me before my exam, will this misdemeanor offense show up? I know the cop said it will be cleared in a year but im paranoid becuz im been studyin my ass off and i find out that they're doin a screening for any misdemeanors. i need to know if its possible the DOJ and FBI will see this? This happened like 2 1/2 years ago and ive been clean ever since. Any replies will be GREATLY appreciated.

You should call the court clerk for the court where the ticket was issued. They would be best able to advise you.

How old were you? If your a JV it won't be on your record. ifr not you shopuld of done pre trial intervention. Lets say this where you fingerprinted? If you were not NO one knows about it, but he local court. If you were fingerprinted then the FBI knows it.

no i was not fingerprinted. to me it was treated like a traffic violation. i mean the cop just told me to get out, he found the roach, searched me and didnt find shit. he just wrote me a ticket, i paid the fine and that was it. told me it will be cleared in a year. i know this sounds pretty self expanitory in my case but when i was studying and i saw that they were screening (found out while i was high) I just got really really PARANOID!!! You guys know wassup when u got that paranoid feeling. thanks a lot stoned247. so i should be cool then right?

if you weren't printed you are not on the ncic list...do what beeb suggested tho just to be sure.

You sure it was a misdemeanor? It sounds more like you were convisted of a Violation...@ least here in NY.If you have time ask a attorney about checking you record and or expunging specific charges from your record.

Sometimes it does not get cleared. I have had a few friends that have lost jobs after they got screened a week or so after they are hired. They were "problems" of the same. the one guy paid a lawyer to clear it up. If you are handy with the search engines you should be able to locate a free background check on yourself. I have done it, but dont remember the site name. (i'd search for ya but i am really busy today.) if you cant find a free background check or you find one and it shows your "problem", get a lawyer and have him (or her) fight it off of your record. if you find a record of yours online the feds will see the same as you.

thanks once again for your replies but heres another thing. the place where im taking my test is gonna take my fingerprints for screening. i never got fingerprinted in my life accept at the DMV. do i have anything to worry about? I mean i think there looking for some major criminal history. this was my only ticket in my life and never got one ever since.

In my state possession is like a 2 year felony and a few thousand dollar fine lol....but the cops here are well kinda a little left of center and are pretty dumb and slow. By the way this is an exam for what? What kind of exam would hold you if you'd ever been convicted of a misdemeanor? That's just fucked...

ok guys i found this information regarding my license. they showed a whole lot of criminal convictions that can deny my license but all of them were things i never did. i did read one section where it said:

License may be denied if TWO or more convictions involving the consumption or use of drugs or alcohol when at least one of those convictions involves driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

This possession offense is the only ticket i ever got. should i worry? should i disclose this information to them?
