1st Grow

This is my 1st grow. Things didn't start off 2 well. I planted a few seeds a few weeks ago, but think I planted em 2 deep. Anyway only 1 of em popped up & she is now 19 days old. I hoped the others would sprout but never did, so started a few again. They should (hopefully) pop up some time in the next few days.

I'm growin in soil / perlite using 105W CFL's for veggin & will be using a 400W HPS for flowering

Yeah I think she's growing pretty well :D It's my 1st grow though so not sure how she should be looking.

She's now 26 days old & still doing ok (I think). She's about 8" tall, seems a bit short to me. I keep havin to move distance from lights every couple of days so she must be growing ok. BTW, she's Chronic from Serious Seeds given to me by a mate :D

Anyway below a couple of updated pics. Any advice or criticism much appreciated :D

I think she is as close to perfect as you could hope to get.

Do you have a fan moving air across the plant? The main stock looks a little thin, that could be trouble later on.

Thanx 4 the comments. I've got a fan blowing 24/7, but it's blowing straight at the plant & bottom of lights (not oscillating).

I've been trying not to overwater her so that's y she might be lookin a bit dry. Gonna water her tonite though. I don't have a pic of where she lives but I'll get 1 & post it tomorrow :D

Make sure you turn her every so often INTO the wind from the fan. She appears to lean left slightly which *COULD* be from the constant wind direction.

You can have an oscillating fan in addition to the fan you have her on.

But just keep that fan on her like you have it now 24/7...just rotate her around every day.... :)

Yeah she is leaning a little bit & have started rotating her, but not very often. Will do every day from now on (as long as I remember) & wanna get another fan in there soon.

There's a bit of a crappy pic of my grow room below, kinda hard getting a good pic. It's 2' x 4' & my lady's a bit lonely in there :( Last nite 1 of my other seedlings started sprouting though & when I get home tonite I hope there'll be a few more ladies to keep her company :D

Nice setup ganja.

That fan might be a bit strong...make sure you keep it on low and definately keep her turning everyday or several times a day,

but at this point keep it like it is...just turn her to face the fan and she will straighten out. ONce she straightens out, just turn her daily.

It's been a shite weekend. I have a full spectrum HPS & thought I'd start using it while vegging cos I wanted more watts. I set it all up & was gonna sort the height out, but 1st wanted a spliff. So I sat down & smoked, then remembered I'd left my girl in there too close to the light :eek: :eek: I jumped up & sorted it out, but she still got frazzled :mad: She's started growing again (amazingly), but now I'm really scared Mary's gonna turn into Mark. What are my chances of getting a female now? Prob really low :mad:

Forgot to mention I think my HPS bulb went too :mad: So I've gone back to my CFL's & added a couple of 30W fluorescent tubes I found lying around. So I've got 165W on them for now, which is ok I guess

But I did the exact same thing to my first plants.

Its those shitty assed reflectors. Too much radiant heat is produced and we just dont realize how it builds up.

At least thats how I burned them.

ANyhow, congrats on the rescue......

I would trim off the dead stuff. Your HPS died, why?

After they shut off they might need a few minutes to come back on.

Prolly not dead, just needed to cool off and reset.

Try again. (Not on the plants :) )

I thought of cutting the crispy leaves off, but wanted to get views from you guys 1st. Will do that tonite.

My HPS died cos I pulled the plug out while the light was on, then plugged it back in & it came on for a sec or 2 then make a bit of a bang & went dead. I tried leaving it for ages then switching it on, changed the fuse & that didn't help. The bulbs making a bit of a rattling sound & I am quite sure it's blown :mad:

Will have to buy a new bulb when I get paid & be much more careful with the light & my plants :D

Ok, I've given her (still hopeful she'll be a she!) a trim. She doesn't look very bushy anymore, but I reckon she'll be even bushier than b4 in a few days time - seems to be growing a fair bit since her scare. She's been alive for 34 days on the pics (taken yesterday) & doesn't look too great compared to other peoples at that sorta time.

pic #1 - her worst side, where I had to trim quite a few of her leaves off.
#2 - her good (well better) side. She has a leaf growing a funny way at the top, nearly straight up instead of sideways - hmmmmmmm :confused:
#3 - the overhead view, new leafs are growing really bright green & look really healthy :D

She's recovering fairly well - didn't take pic but will post 1 tomorrow. She is Chronic, from Serious Seeds, from their website:

Medium height, not too dense plant is the perfect combination of good yield and excellent quality. Smokers that know and grow choose this plant for its combination of appearance and sweet smell. With its indica background Chronic can produce up to 600 g/m2 without losing that connoisseur feeling. Grows a single huge central bud with few side branches. Mild, sweet smell develops while flowering.

The little 1 that sprouted last week (& I'm gonna veg for shorter time) is Blockhead, from Spice Of Life Seeds. On Overgrow's strain guide it says:

The mother was selected from seed developed by one crazy yanqui. The exact origins are somewhat of a mystery. It is strong pot. The feminized mothers were fairly homogenous, although from several of the line, and another more extreme sativa. This mother had indica-like buds on a sativa sized plant. Crossed with the same SwT father as Sweet Tooth #3!

Here's a pic update of Mary.

She's still growing really bushy & I'm wondering whether she might be getting too bushy. Should I be tying some branches down (like 9ski9 did very well btw :D ) or should I be doing something else - maybe putting lights a bit further away to stretch her a bit?

just lightly bend all your giant fan leaves out of the way, it is easy and you won't have to chop on or otherwise stress your plant, bro...

This is my 1st grow though & not expecting too much. I've already got lots of ideas on doing things differently for my next grow :D

She just seems such a compact and chunky little thing and I was looking at all the different places were buds would be srpouting out from.
Mine always tend to be on the stringy side but I don't worry about that, they do ok :)

Just keep posting the pics love, I'm looking forward to seeing how she turns out ;)

Quite frankly I am amazed at her condition after nearly frying her.

I wouldnt touch a thing about a thing on her.

After what she has been thru, let go and let her be,.

She is gorgeous and your early fry actually helped her get some exposure to the lights.

Let her be...all is what it is supposed to be right now, you wont get much better than that after all thats happened.

I didn't tie any leaves back in the end! I wasn't sure what 1's to do & seemed like she wanted to follow whichever leaf I tried tying down.

I tried posting updated pics but they're too big to be attached. I've tried compressing them, but I've used every free download I can for that. I'll try & post them at some point soon :D

I'm going to The Hague next Friday - been Amsterdam so many times that I need a change. I'll be gone for over 4 days & plan to flower Mary when I get back. Will she be ok if I water her well b4 I go?

I think so G :) I was wondering if you could make a little resivoir and have a wick effect to allow water to be avaliable, I'm not sure how it's done but I've read about it before. Prehaps one of the guys on here might know ;)

Me I would just stand the pot in a tray with a bit of water in it, but thats just my way :o
