If you are growing using soil, you can pretty much get away with any water that is PH balanced.. 5-7....

If you want to be perfect... you need water that starts (before you add nuts) at PPM 50 or less.

You will need to purchase a Parts Per Million meter.....

and you will set the PH at 6.5-6.8..

If you are growing hydro or aeroponic you will need water that is 50 or less PPM.

Soil is very forgiving and you can get away with murder...

you know blinkoplinko I used tap water always.
What I do is let the jugs sit 24-48 hrs first which
lets alot of the chlorine evaporate out. Depending
on how effecient your water treatment plant is.
I live in a pretty small city too so I'm sure they
dont use too much of the harshness.
Good Luck.

I use RO water ph adjusted to 5.4-5.9 for hydro, it varies from week to week slightly during bloom...most tap water is 200 ppm/for soil you adjust water to 6.5ph...so you need:tds pen and ph pen (some company's sell a combo, I believe it also measures temp.
Now, you can use just tap water, but you need to adjust the ph and if you are growing in soil you can just use the water out of tap which is usually around 7 ph,
you just won't have as good of results, but back in the day many a grower smoked weed that was watered with plain old H2O...goodluck.

Reverse Osmosis - (RO) water only Ph adjusted to suit what ever grow medium/method I am using.

blink.... if your ph is not checked/correct, there is a chance that the plants, as they get older, they will start to show signs of nut deficiency.. you can get a "ph tester" for 3 bucks at the nursery... worth the investment.

Those $3.00 TESTERS suck dicks. :D

Better than nothing I guess, but if you are gonna do a serious grow, you might want to invest in a pH pen.

I tried the soil test tubes and pH test strips......what a pain.
