high all,

Hope all is well today :)

Here is my fourth grow, currently under way. I have 1 Strawberry Cough, 1 Big Blue going now. It has been one week since I put those beans into germinating.

I will be using 200W of CFL's for vegging, and 225W hps for flowering. I am using basic soil again from wal-mart with added vermiculite. I am growing in a space approx 2.5ft square.

So, day 1 of vegging begins today. I will update once a week, every Monday, right here on this thread if anyone cares to follow my progress. I will inform you at that time of any changes, and when I begin feeding. Hope to see you all soon. Peace and happy growing!

Update:week 2 of veg.

High all,

Hope all is well today :) ...I am here for an update.

1st picture is Strawberry Cough
2nd picture is Big Blue
3rd picture is side by side shot.

I have used up some left over mylar and now my walls are white. I have noticed a HUGE diff. in reflection immediatly after I put it up. I haven't began feeding yet and won't for another week or two. So ya, not many changes so far but it's all going smoothly and looking alright so far.

I'll update in one weeks time again, on Monday. Feel free to ask any questions. Peace and keep growing!

I'm curious to what type
of growing medium your using,
NoChowderForYOu?

It is so simple it's sad. I don't use anything too fancy at the moment. I just use potting soil with added vermiculite from wal-mart, has some added bark...like $10 a bag. I've been thinking about adding something more organic to the soil mix for when I transplant in a few weeks, but I have no idea where to start. I'm lost when it comes to mediums, I just know that I can grow the things in soil. Any suggestions anyone?

nowchowderforyou, simple is usualy the way to go,but if you wont to give your potting mix a bit of body.
You could add to the cheap potting mix that you buy about 15%peat moss this will help with water holding capasity.
the bark you use should be composted fines.
If you think it needs a little more drainage you could add maybe 10% or so of washed course river sand.
Hope this helps a little....Watching your thread with interest, good work...

Hey, thanks for the reply bud

That helps quite a bit. I too agree, it needs better drainage. When I let the soil dry up, I water, and for about 5-10seconds the water doesn't soak in. It sits on top, but eventually it goes down.

I'll try the peat moss next time around, or maybe I'll use vermiculite again  Who knows. I'll be going to the garden store soon because I'll be transplanting these ladies into their fianl home.

Thanks again, peace and keep growing!

You said it takes 5 to 10 seconds to start soaking in, that is pretty good.I have seen potting mixes take minutes to soak the water up.Anyway just wonted to let you no that the peat moss can be a little slow to re-wet.

Okay, that's good to know man, thanks.

I don't think I'm going to go with peat moss, but I haven't made my mind up for sure. I'm going to the garden store tomorrow and I'll have a look around, decide then.

Thanks for the input! Peace.

UPDATE:Week 3 of veg

High all,

Hope all is well today. I am here to give you an update.

First picture is of the Strawberry Cough. She is growing strong, and fast! Starting to smell of skunk too :( I'll have to look into containing the smell later on down the road, or I might have to donate it :( Which I don't want to do.

Second picture is Big Blue. For now on I will refer to her as "Lady McGibbles". As you can see from the picture, the plant pretty much didn't grow on the one side. So what started happening was she is growing small leaves all in a bunch in the middle. She's all gibbled up, that's how the name came about.

Third picture is side by side shot. The bigger plant is the SC.

I haven't started giving it fert yet and I won't for at least a few more weeks. I plan on transplanting these lovely ladies into their final home in the next few days. I'll give them a week or so to recover from the move, then I will give them their first taste of food...a small does that is.

I went to every garden store in town and it was slim pickins. I couldn't find any bat guano for food, so for now, I bought some of these food sticks(4th picture), that was recommended to me by a friend. I will be ordering bat guano for next time around though. I have dumped the Miracle Grow 8-7-6 and went with the sticks.

Last picture is my soil mixture I chose. Again, bags of soil were hard to find right now, I don't know why, but no one had any of the good stuff. So I'llk be using the PlantSmart leftover soil, and I will add this Vermiculite(5th pic) to lighten her up a bit.

That's all for now. Next time I update they will be in their final home, ready to floursih for a few more weeks or so, then flowering will begin :D. Till then, peace and keep growing! Suggestions, comments welcome.

Looking good chowder. The only coment i would like to make was that by useing those slow releas stiks you cant stop feeding and flush the soil at the end becouse the stick will still be there. Unless you are able to pull it out when you need to.
Keep up the good work, they look like healthy little suckers.

Thanks for the replies!

I already solved the problem using those sticks. I never thought it through 100%, and Hard-on suggested not using them, for that exact reason. They keep releasing fert everytime you water. That is a recepie for killing the plant. Soooo...I went and bought some fish emulsion 5-1-1 and will not be using the sticks.

Peace.

Yah man, I hope that those turn out to be very nice ladys. Did you plant those or buy the clones, I sure hope they aren't male!:O. I been feeding my 2 mothers and clone 15-8-15 after it came out of shock, I had to feed it water for like a month because it was shocked, man that pissed me off. Now its back to vegging again and I am expecting to see some massive growth over the next 2-3 weeks, I repotted it too :D.
Keep postin pics man, I would love to see this :D.

Ya, I hope they're ladies too :o

I started from seed. This is only my fourth grow and I haven't found a strain I'm 100% happy with, to clone. Once I do though, I'll start cloning. I know it won't be the Strawberry Cough though. She is going to be a big momma and is already reeking of skunk. Not that I mind, but at the moment I'm not using any carbon scrubbers, so I don't want to reek up the whole place, you know.

I'll be posting pics every Monday to keep you people updated.

I don't know if I'll get around to giving it vegging ferts. They aren't asking for it, so I try to aviod giving them any. The SC is growing fast, tall and lanky. I should have known that an 80% sativa plant would be hard to keep under 2.5ft. Maybe I'll top it, I've even considered putting her outside, or donate her to a good home. We'll see though, or I may just flip them both into flower in a few weeks.

The Big Blue is still growing weird. It isn't growing any full leaves on the one side of the plant  I don't know, it's still growing though. :D

I have some decisions to make though. I know the SC's smell is going to be hard to contain, so I may just donate it to someone, as it won't finish flowering in time before the frost comes.

Peace

Joel
08-10-2005, 10:43 PM
No man, dont donate that shit. Keep it to your self and make a ventalation system, it isnt that bad to make it aslong as you have a window or you're near your dryer, for the output of course. For the Big Blue I would recommend turning 1/2 way it is now so that the side with barely any leafs gets spotted the most light on that part of the plant for new growth. I would say for your sativas let them get to about 3 ft then bud if they're flowering, other then that I would most likely go with indica if you dont want sativas over 2.5ft lol. Good luck bro and I cant wait till monday :D:D. If you can take a pic of your Big Blue and your SC's. I have msn if you want to talk further upon the ventalation system I could help you with. [email protected] ( I dont use aim because its gay. im sorry lol. )

Nochowderforyou
08-11-2005, 01:45 AM
No, I decided not to donate it someone. I'm just going to plant the SC outside in a great location I found today. I decided to get it out of here tomorrow, I'll keep it in the pot I just transplanted into, and the 12/12 natural cycle starts here in another week or so, so hopefully she will flower for at least 6 weeks before the frost comes. I tried doing outdoors last year, but failed miserably :(. It was a lot of work hauling water there, walking there, once a week to take care of them. I don't drive so I had to commute by bike, which was about a 6km ride.

This spot I got now is on some friends land, about a 10min ride from my place. I'm not expecting a huge yeild, but this plant is going bonkers and is about three times the size now of the Big Blue. So I'll plant her outside in some tomatos and we'll see how she goes. I have about another 25 SC seeds, so it's not a huge loss.

I was anxious to grow this strain though. I've heard wonderful things about it and it just sounds amazingly sweet to smoke. I'll stick to indicas though. The BB is 80% indica :D So far it is staying nice and short, bushy, but growing funny on one side.

I already put her under all the light now. She is soaking up 200W of CFL's all to herself now. Tomorrow, I'll put the SC outside and let her have the sunshine. Maybe I'll start some more Power Plant, or Manatuska Thunderfuck, I'm even considering starting up a Lowryder seed(s) tonight. I like the sounds of the autoflowering. I heard it will flower even under 24hrs of light. Craaaaazy. We'll see though.

Oh ya, sorry I don't have any messanger service. But I got your e-mail, peace.

Joel
08-11-2005, 02:15 AM
Right on man, Im so stoned right now, I got some of that Northern Lights x Haze. Holy shit did that knock me on my ass. Yeah man I think growing that SC outside is the smartest way to go, itll get to big and smell up your house more then usual. I would consider on making a ventalation system for the future for when the frost does come, so you can grow the SC inside and have a decient yield. I suggest on purchasing Aurora Indica ( Afghan x Northern Lights ), grows low, produces high yield. I think its like 75% indica 25% sativa. THC content is 15-20%. http://shop.grasscity.com/shop/grasscity/seedsnirai.html

Man I am so desperate to see your Big Blue plants man, Orgasmic!!
Keep it updated bro.

Update:beginning of week 4 of veg

high all,

Back for an update.

Here are 2 shots of my Big Blue. I said last week that it was growing funny, well I'm happy to say that she has finally emerged her traditional leaves and is growing normally now. I thought she was going to be mutant, but all is growing well now. I'm pleased with the height she is at now and I haven't given her any ferts yet. The less, the better I think.

My Strawberry Cough plant, I planted outside at a location in some tomatos. It was growing at an uncontrollable rate and was about 3 times the size of my BB. I knew a 80% sativa plant would be hard to contain in a 2.5ft sq.area, so I put her outside. I will take shots of her in a few weeks from now, but I was out there about 5 days after I put it outside. Growing very strong ands fast. She loves the great outdoors :)

Here are a few cured shots of my last grow. It is PPP and has been curing for well over a month. Wonderful, potent smoke, taste like lemons when inhaled.

I plan on making some oil from all my trimmings from my last 3 grows. I'll do that this weekend. Peace.

Thanks man!

It's looking okay for now. It is finally growing normal, so I shouldn't seeing anymore fucked up leaves. But this one is going to be a bush, I can see it already.

No, the bud is Pure Power Plant. If I had lemon HP I'd be cloning that bastard! Not a bad smoke though. Not my fav. though. My fav. is White Widow. I'll never forget that grow, amazing strain.

Peace.

08-15-2005, 09:13 PM
Ah yes the joys of White widow, I have never growin it but I have smoked it. I had a grow of HP couple of months back and when I finished harvesting , oh my god man it was like I died and went to heavon. HP is the best tasting bud I have EVER smoked, unless you got some other shit that I cant get lol. Sucks living where I do, no good weed what so ever.

Nochowderforyou
08-15-2005, 09:23 PM
I've had the joy of smoking a pure hashplant once. I swear, when you put a small nug in the bowl, it burned just as slow as hash, and tasted like it too. It was a memorable strain that stuff.

The best tasting stuff I've ever smoked was Bubblegum. It tasted just like bazooka joe gum, and was sticky like it too.

You get shitty weed there eh? That sucks man. Around here I couldn't get shitty weed even if I wanted too. I've only smoked shwag once in my life, and it was brought back from about 300km up North here in Canada. It had like pieces of corn husks in there, loaded with seeds, brown, bad smelling, untrimmed too, shit. I would never spend money on that shit, never. I'd attempt growing before got shit like that.

You in the US?

Joel
08-15-2005, 09:25 PM
HAHAHA Funny story but true, Im from northern canada (YK) wich is why I am bitching about this BULLSHIT weed. I am trying to do something about it that is why I am growing lol, I would rather smoke the good shit to my self then sell it to these poor natives.

No shit man? That's crazy! That's where the shittiest weed in Canada is, no offense. It is overpriced shit too isn't it? I know some folks who go up to Zama(N Alberta), pick up a P in Edmonton for $1400, go to Zama and make $2700 of of it. There is big money up North if a person can get it that far. Not something I'd risk doing. I'm not a dealer either. I'd rather smoke it then sell it. I couldn't bring myself to sell any of it. It would hurt too much to just sell my hard earned grown buds that I love so much :p.

I feel for you living up there man. No good weed at all. :( Try selling some of your homegrown stash, if it's good anyways. I know some folks up there would pay $50 for an 1/8 of some KB. Producing an 1/8 is nothing either. I produce 40x that in about 3-4months. Good money up there if thought out right.

Ah yes chowder it is, Im thinking once I start growing more females Im gonna sell pounds for 2800$, they sell for 3000$ up here, its ridiculous. I dont have to worry about moving it, lol and where I live there is no stop&check point. You drive until you hit the town, a buddy of mine is bringing up over 100pounds to sell up here after I told him they sell roughly 3000$ each. Yah the weed up here is bunk, to speak of it now I am going to pay 40$ right now for 4.5 grams wich is BULLSHIT, Ill post some shitty pictures of the bud from my webcam on here so you can see what its like. My webcam doesnt give out the best pictures but you should be able to see it. 20$ for 1.3 is RIDICULOUS dont you think?

Whoa...I posted that like, 2mins ago. That was fast. :o

Ya, I mean, I just bought it, like 30mins ago :D. It is some outdoor stuff that was done locally. It had a bit of a snail infestation, nasty! But for oil that's okay. That alcohol will burn off any living pests in those buds no problem.

Joel
08-16-2005, 05:07 PM

Nochowderforyou
08-16-2005, 06:08 PM
Okay, here ya go...First picture is about 1/2 of the 15g's. Looks can be decieving I tell ya. It is so compressed and been passed through so many hands...commercial mids I'm guessing, leafy as hell too You open up one of these buds and it is half filled with seeds and bug shit. I think he had a cattapiller(sp?) problem. What they do, if you don't catch them soon enough, is they eat through the buds and leave a nice trial of shit. They left the shit :(.

The second picture is some grass I picked up from a local grower last night. I just met him but he's a really cool guy. Sold me these 2 half ounce bags for $125. Nice dope too. Not super potent but gives you a nice mellow buzz, wonderful taste, but he said it was a low yeilder. I told him the problem was him using a 1000W hps for vegging, and using the same 1000W hps bulb for flowering. The budsites were stretched out and the plants lacked that extra boost that is needed during flowering.

I got some smokin to do, peace.

i don't think so, one of the reasons i grow is that over here where i live it's somehow hard to get stuff to smoke when you really need to, this no constant supply of any drug.....i guess the world is filled with 'shit-holes' as you call it;)

Update:

High all,

Well, I put my Big Blue, "Mcgibbles", into flowering on Friday, so I can't take any shots of it until the light comes on later tonight. Sorry, I don't have any current shots. I gave her a small blast of some 5-1-1 on Friday as well, and will continue the veg fert until it shows me sex.

So I won't have an update until I confirm its sex. In a few weeks from now, if it's a female, I will start a fresh, 12/12 thread for ya, if it's a male, I'll report it here on this thread, and, well....will start all over again.

So no shots until later tonight, I'll post them later.

My SC plant is still outside and thriving like crazy. I'll take some shots in a few more weeks when I get up there again.

That's all...peace

high all,

Here are a few shots of Lady McGibbles as I mentioned. She is on day 5 of 12/12, and as you can see from the pics, there is some slight yellowing of leaves down below, so, I just gave her her first blast of 10-15-10, so that should stop now.

I just confirmed her, a female. Whoo-hoo!!!!!! I saw 2 very small pistils near the top and I was SO happy when I saw them. This is my fourth grow, my fourth female, from seed, in a row! Talk about luck or what! I'm pleased.

So, I'll start a new thread here in the next week or so for my 12/12 time. Just so it's a little easier to follow.

So in the meantime, peace and keep growing!
