wassup fellow stoners im new to this board and had a question for yall. Well I got caught with just a small ass roach and the fuckin cop gave me a ticket saying i had possession of less than a frickin ounce! To make a long story short I had to pay a fine and since my record was clear the cop said the offense will be cleared after a year if i dont get caught no more. I never been caught up after that and ive been clean. Now im trying to get Licensed as a Real Estate Agent and before i can get licensed i have to disclose any criminal misdeamenors or anything that has a criminal offense. If I dont disclose this information, is it possible that they will find out i got caught with a roach a couple of years back?
The Department of Real Estate will screen me and look for any criminal record with the Department of Justice and the FBI. Should I worry? sorry im just real paranoid u guys feel me...any reply will be appreciated thanks yall.

well it mainly depends on wut state u live in, some consider less than an ounce a midemeanor, and some consider it a petty offense, to check wut state u live in go to www.NORML.com and on the left at the top of the page it should give u a pull down list of all the marijuana rules in all the states as well as federal laws, other than that im only 17 so i cant help ya, by the way welcome to the boards and how long u been smokin for??

hey thanks bob but it doesnt fully answer my question. i mean i paid a fine of 275 bucks but the cop made it sound like a had a lot on me when the size of the roach was like no bigger than a finger nail! I just need to know if its your first offense and ur history was clean, will that shit be off my record? so that if i get screened for a job it wont come up u know? and to answer ur question ive been smokin for 3 years now but im tryin to cut down cuz im trying to study and im the type when im high, im jus gonna stay in my room and play video games until i go to sleep then do it again the next day.

I dont know anything about American law. But when you get charged with a Misdemeanor i thought you didnt get a record of it at all if you paid your fine. I'm probably wrong though. I always thought felonies were the ones that were put on a record for people to see. Ask someone else because i'm from Canada and dont know for sure. A misdemeanor is something like not paying parking tickets or something stupid. And i'm thinking under an ounce would be a misdemeanor. Also, do you even think the real estate people would give a damn if you were caught with a roach? lol. Come on, people make mistakes. Maybe if you explained it and were honest you would still get in. dont listen to my advice though, i'm not a lawyer.

I think it stays on there for like 7 seven years. A friend of mine had the same problem. He got busted with a small amount when he was in college and he always had to disclose that information for professional jobs. Sucks.

Don't know if I can help but I got busted too. That was way back in '91. Someone ran a redlight and hit me and I was pretty busted up. While looking in my purse for my ID the cop found a joint (my last one too). I was also driving while suspended license. Anyway long story short even tho it was his fault I had to get a lawyer, 6-month license lost $500 to lawyer $300 fine and stupid ass DUI school. I don't even drink. I recently passed a background check for a job that I left that conviction off of. I think it falls off in 7 or 8 yrs in its a mr. I'm in GA don't know about your state Good luck

What state do you live in? In ohio anything less than 100g doesn't create a record they just fine you.
