how long do u think it will take amerika to wake up and smell the ganga by legalizing mary. I mean to the level of tolerance that the dutch gov. has towards it. I would say around 2020 if people keep it an issue. i mean how long can they continue to afford to put decent people in jail for such a harmless "crime". any thoughts on a date or what needs to be done?

All I can say is that I believe we're getting closer. Despite the Supreme Court ruling on medical marijuana, people's attitudes are becoming more and more in favor of the medical aplication of the drug. My home state of Rhode Island is *this* close to passing an MMJ bill, and deliberations on the bill started *after* the Supreme Court ruling. Just a slap in the face of the Federal Government. I do believe we're getting there!

dude i agree with both of you. if weed was legal people would chill out and think things through and talk to each other before taking rash actions (going to war with a country over unsubstantiated evidence??). yeah i heard about the paper company's conspiracy too with dupont and others. theres big $$ in paper and hemp would ruin them, they should instead embrace it and ask the gov. to legalize so they can use hemp for paper. much more efficient and will save them lots of money.

if you guys want it legalized sooner then you should all go and join NORML(National Organization for Reformation of Marijuana Laws). All you got to do is go too www.norml.org and make a donation. That will make you a member and the money you donate goes towards the fight for the reformation of marijuana!!! One day it will be legalized but the more people that fight means the less people that are against it. At least check out the website. It's pretty cool. They tell you the laws for your state and everything! www.norml.org

well an oz. a day, racer is right it varies state to state, some see it as a petty offense, like my state, colorado :), but others see it as much worse, and to give u an idea, if ur caught by a federal agent its considered a misdemeanor, up to 1 yr in prison and up to a $1000 fine, pretty harsh, thats for any amount, and as for paraphernalia, its considered a felony and thats upto 3 yrs in prison but theres no fine, whoopdy doo huh, lol but ya as for the whole legalization thing i seriously doubt its gonna happen, medicinaly maybe, but if they legalized MJ for all of us and also legalized hemp, which im assuming will happen at the same time, it would run soo many diff companies into the ground: tobacco, paper, cotton, well most clothing in general, lumber, soy, diesel fuel, paint, varnish, lubricating oil, and flour. thats not all of its uses but its a good sized list. hemp can make the same products as all of these companies and its cheaper, faster, and all around just a better quality. and ya many of these companies r funding our wonderful govt to keep us citizens stupid and the smart ones in jail or shut up. but if we can somehow get past all these problems we still have our govt's pride and admitting theyve been wrong for the past almost 100 yrs. lol now im all for it being legalized, hell yea, cept that if it was legalized theyd probly just slap some major taxes on it and make the legal age 21 for all of our kids and itd just be really expensive, as it is now i can get it fairly cheap. so my advice to all smoking americans, move to amsterdam or hopefully soon to be jamacia!! they r considering it and could possibly look at the legalization bill as soon as this fall. but ya id love to see it legalized here in america i just dont see it happening, sad but true

all the monkeys in downtown Ohio get caught with ounces and all they get is a weed ticket and the weed confiscated. I think they can have up to two ounces without going to jail but it has to be in one bag. Thats why when they sell it they put it in newspapers or anything they can find except a plastic bag.

i saw a show on pot.tv that was of a montell show where they talked about medicinal marijuana. they had a few families that had some serious problems that were solved by weed and montell was a serious sympathizer with them.

i think that more awareness like that will help win most minds over and eventually i think medicinal marijuana will prevail. from that level, i hope that marijuana would be fully legal not too far after.

All I would like to say is that before we can hope to have everyone smokin' in our life times, we need to fix our vocab. For starters, refer to it as "re-legalizing" instead of "legalizing." It gives more emphasis on the fact that it was once legal already and the government has gone back on it. Seeding more doubt in the government. That is what we need, more doubt in the government policies. The WTO thing is a good start.

federal government has little power over the state gov as state has little power over city...medical marijuana is illegal in the federal gov' but california and other states still use it and cali even has medical coffee shops...

the current govenor of alaska is trying to decrimilize it again but is haveing no luck...you can have up to 4 ounces for receational purpose in the privacy of your home.... Ann Arbor, michigan has basically decriminlized it too...only a 25 dollar fine if your caught with it... there is a petition going around Michigan that will dicrimenlize it for people over 21...same laws as alcohole...

i believe Alaska is sitting alone right now.. but in less than five years a couple more will follow...California, Nevada, Michigan and more....once the republics no longer have controll of the 3 houses things will change... states wont have constant pressure put on them to inforce such laws
