Its more of a pro marijuana episode becouse they showed how it was made illiegal because mexicans that were crossing into the states were using it, Since congress didnt like imigrants from mexico they didnt like the weed they were bringing. Then came the propaganda and u know wat happened.......

You want a good coke story? I just watched the DVD on how the coke/crack game got started in D.C., this dude was a fucking millionaire by 19. Check it out, look up Rayful Edmonds some time, one of the biggest coke dealers on the East Coast ever to get locked up.

that isn't why weed became illegal....it became illegal becasue they linked weed and violence in blacks [the only reason i see why they had to single them out, is cuz you take away someo ne's freedom sure they're going to get pissed] (refuse to call them slaves even tho at that time that's what they were at the time) and convinced everyone through posters, tv, everything that weed was bad for you and would turn you into a violent family killer...i remember watching one of the first commercials on some anti-marijuana show while smoking a joint....

I think that was cocaine. I could be wrong, but I feel pretty confident they equated violent blacks with cocaine use. I actually just saw a thing on tv about it, that coke was considered a wonder-drug by many people, even Sigmund Freud...
Criminalizing marijuana was definitely anti-south america, anti-immigrant, anti-brown people in general, which could include blacks (generally if it involves prejudice, Im sure they were included), but Im sure it was mostly south americans. Which countries do you think will get rich if the herb is legal? If coke was legal? The US had no interest in helping support the prosperity of the brownies, and used people's prejudice's to equate the herb with lazyness, being dirty, being a scumbag - when really its all about money.

There has been a "drug culture" since the dawn of civilization. Sumerian cuneiform tablets from 3000 BC show a poppy harvest, as do ancient Egyptian scripts and Greek statues adorned with poppy crowns. Far more recently, Freud sung the praises of cocaine, which was included in the original recipe for Coca-Cola. But since the industrial revolution, drug use has changed dramatically, and society's response to this--particularly in America--has been to demonize users and make drugs illegal.
HOOKED explores the world of illegal drugs, meeting with pharmacologists and scientists to learn exactly what effect they have on us and exploring the social and legislative changes that have transformed (and, some would argue, created) the drug culture of the 20th century. Outspoken advocates on both sides of the "war on drugs" illuminate this polarizing issue, and fascinating accounts and artifacts illustrate the role of drugs throughout history.
