thats what you call "branching"(where the plant gets a whole lot of different branches)..........right?****HOW DO YOU GET THE PLANT TO DO THAT????****

and one other question:
how do you get the plant do this?is it just certain strains do that? or what?or can you do that yourself???(****if so, could you please tell me how to do it?**** ): look at this:http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=22420

the pic is the third "reply" or post down....it is the pic of the plant with a cola right on the top starting in a black pot....it is by BobBong....

by topping every branch you can get your plant to look like a bush and hps lights work well if you are trying to get you plants to look like that but the scraggly looking plant with a thousand braches dosent look to great to me i mean i prolly it great but i prefer smaller plants with thicker buds not bigger plants with smaller buds

The first link you posted, that plant looked like it was topped. That method is used in the veg stage. You cut where you think is a good spot, right inbetween the nodes. That gets more light to the bottom branches encouraging more branching and budsites. It also encourages more horizontal growth that vertical growth, resulting in a more bushy plant.

Oh, the second link, that was my thread I started and how I grew mine was SOOOOO simple. Some strains stay nice, short, and thick, while some grow tall, lanky, and stretched out. If you want things to stay small and chunky, you want an Indica dom. strain. Avoid Sativa's, they grow tall and lanky, hard to control.

But my pictures there on the original first post of the thread, I didn't use any training on my plants. I grew it from seed instead of clones. I find that starting from seed you get a much hardier plant that from clones, but it has its pros and cons. I just grew it, in soil, kept my CFL bulbs about 1.5inches away, to keep things short, and I flowered after a short veg time. I didn't tie my plants down, or top, or nothing! Just an up and out grow. I topped it, and if you look at my pictures down below, those were taken about 3 weeks after I cut the top bud off. I did this because the bottom buds were not fully grown, so I cut it to get more light. Stayed nice and small.

But some tips on keeping your plants short and thick:
-Get an Indica dom. strain
-Keep your plant as close to the bulbs as you can without burning it
-You can top your plant at the 4th or 5th node to encourage more horizontal growth
-You can LST(Low Stress Training) that means tying, bending your plants main stem so more light can be reached to the bottom budsites
-Set up a SCrog. This method there is a lot to learn, but you will get maximum yeild in small spaces
-and cut down veg time. Shorter veg time=shorter plants, but also a smaller yeild, but the potency should still be there.

Good luck!

Yes, induce flowering as long as it has those seven nodes it will give you some nugs. Just remember if its small, when it buds out its gonna look like alot more then it will be once its dried and manicured.

It's called the FIM method of topping. It's hard to explain with out a picture. I,ll try to find some so you can see but that will send you in the right direction.

The first plant was not topped. You can see the main stem running across the entire plant. It is just a sativa dominant plant and sometimes they grow a lot horizontally. I like those little cuties nochowder :D
