Alright. I bet most of you here know what the 24/0 sunlight shedual is. Except me. I've heard stories that it will put your plant into maximum growth and stuff, but whats the real deal? When is the soonest I can put my plants into 24/0 lighting? And how long do I do it for? My babies are 8 days old now, so help me out.

do it now if you want i use 18/6 for veg but i hear 24 is better i have a conculsion that the dark hours are good for the veg stage but im sure others have their opinion put it under 24 or keep it the way it is dont change it often it stresses the plant

You can do it as soon as it's heads out the soil. I personally use 18/6 cos i read that the plant grows better in the dark using the energy it stores during the light. Try it out if u have a few plants give one 24/0 one 23/1 down to 18/6 see what happens. Obviously a bit more effort involved tho so probly not worth it lol

I have always wondered the 18/6 vs. 24/0 arguement, so last year I did a test, just for fun.

I had some bagseeds lying around from previous good bags. A freind of mine had just bought all this equipt. and shit, his grow teacher gets arrested, so he was left with all this lighting and shit and no one to teach him how to use it, grow, or have any seeds, so I helped him out as much as I could. So we decided to plant 20 seeds total, 10 seeds would veg under 24/0 cycle, 10 would veg under a 18/6 cycle, then thrown into flowering. Now, before I go on, I was told some time ago by a friend, that less light will produce more females than males, that's how this whole test came about. The results were good.

*10 seeds vegged under 18/6, we got 7 out of 10 female plants.
*10 seeds vegged under 24/0, we got only 3 out of 10 females.

That's what we did, and those are the reuslts, all written down next to me as I type. Hope this helps somewhat.

From all I have read and learned on the boards.....I think that 24 hours of light is fine for seedlings.....but as the plant matures It needs some type of rest.....18 6 is the one rating given by most grow books.....some growers use 20 4 thought not many. My guess is if 24 hours constant light worked...everyone would do it....they dont.

That could be why mine are all female then cos when i started them i could only give them about 14-16 hours for a couple of weeks
