View Full Version : clones in 10 days/home made bubbler

Zandor guided me, but I couldn't get my sprinkler system together, so I made a bubbler, but instead of just cutting 1' holes in top. I cut out for 5" netpots and used cutouts as covers that I drilled 7-1" holes each in, cut my plugs out of the ol' lady's garden kneepad...I used a 6" stone in the bottom of tub, then put an airstone at the bottom of each netpot.
I gauged my water depth added superthrive 1 capful per gallon
I used schultz takeroot (powder) $4 and miracle grow leafshine $4 (this is the name of the stuff at Wally's for anti-wilt (it work's)........
1o days now and I have 6 rooted clones, one has almost an " of roots, and it was a flowered cutting that was supposed to take maybe 3 weeks, well dispel
that myth...with quality guidance and a little luck...as they say...soooooooo
Thanks Zandor, again and Garden Knowm, I appreciate your input...latewood
:D  :) :p

clone bubbler has 2 pods w/7 ea. clones...1 drowned 9 of 13 now have roots and the 4 that don't, well one was too mature, woody, big hollow up stem,,, the others I picked 3-4 that did not follow the optimum cutting for clones guidelines, experimenting since this was my first clone attempt...very happy 9 new babies to play with,...
awwwwww they grow up so fast...sorry no pic's...need help setting that up...I am going to post somewhere else in order to try and resolve the pic's issue...latewood

Very nice, I just hope the roots don't grow into the net pot and get caught is all. You could cut the bottom off the net pots and use those only for your cloner. That should keep the roots from being caught.

thanks for the heads up on roots growing in the nets, you know, you see this happening before your eyes and you sometimes miss the little things: blinded by the
beauty of what you see before you! I've got about 3" before they get caught up
I hope to have them all vegged before I run into that problem...

:) well we are 1 clone short of 100% success rate on this batch....
:( Bummer I really thought a few people would of commented on my little friend, oh well

looks kewl , especially because it gives me something to compare my lil cloner invention to. not the same but similar method. I took a storage container with about 10" bottom , 5" second level and slightly dommed lid the bottom for th water and air bubbles then the floor of the second layer I cut like 18 1-7/8" holes which I cut off about 2" black Pvc pipe to go snugly into the holes. Inside the pvc inserts I put 3" lengths of the styrafoam water pipe wraps. they fit in the pvc stugly and although round they have a slice on one side with peal off sticky thingys (handy for holding in the cuttings} All this in the floor of the top layer and it sets on bottom part with the bubbling misting water. Lid goes on top for some light but I usually put something to keep it from being all the way closed. Works good for germinating seeds too. If you use rockwool the small squares will fit right in the pvc inserts as will the peat seed starters. works basically the same as yours thanks for the view and Zandor, his word is like gold, nothing but good advice as are a few of the guys heres advice I'm sure.
Imagination is the creator of inventions but it sure helps to have someone give you the basics for an idea, amazing what one uses from around the house to fill in the blanks( garden knee pads for example, thats great ).
Well there ya got a response , lol
Peace bro,
Bill

thanks Bill, I think the whole deal is kinda neat...Yeah I agree, I learned alot and I was on the right track, then I read Zandor and your right, I feel totally confident in his advice...I read him quite a bit before I started posting...then I narrowed down who I could talk to here to build relationships of knowledge...there are quite a few with good grows going and alot of important imformation/concepts being ironed out here. It is funnythough, it seems like there are alot less posters than before, but the quality has gone up for the most part, since I joined anyway, IMHO

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

here are 2 updated pix of my root growth...look at all the bubbles
and 2 showing the products I used to clone.
everything from wally's except netpots!!!
I also have an airstone in each pot as well as the 6"
I plan on doing a step by step on this once I have transferred these babies to veg...I like this smaller setup, because I only have to provide for me and the ol' lady, plus I have some seeds to grow...
hope you all like my mini-cloner...latewood

after 2 weeks early veg, I believe they are ready!

just for reference...I ran clones in bubbler another week and had no problem with the roots growing in the netpots, it was because of the airstones in the netpots that kept the roots kind of floating. for lack of a better way to explain it...

that looks awesome man, what is the leaf shine for? make them glisten? haha but to be serious, to clone do you top a plant and then soak the stem in some nutrients till they root then keep it in a bubbler or what?

As long as you are going to finish them in the same net pots that's fine. If you are transplanting them watch out when they get tangeled in the net pot they are are hard to get out with out damaging the roots.

That is what I was talking about.

DON'T USE LEAF SHINE STUPID. THATS A COSMETIC APPLICATION LIKE "MAKE UP" FOR GIRLS TO MAKE INDOOR PLANTS HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF A HEALTHY SHINE. iT CLOGS THE PORES OF YOUR LEAVES. thATS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I'VE SEEN YET

Peacethought you were talking about individual clone roots tangling up in netpot, but you meant with each other,,,OK, either way, because of your advice, I monitored them and nothing went wrong.
That is what I am saying, Thanks for your help, this helps the new guy's, ooops and gal's that want to build something for themselves.

vigorous clones!!! leaves breath thru the underside of their leaves...

that looks awesome man, what is the leaf shine for? make them glisten? haha but to be serious, to clone do you top a plant and then soak the stem in some nutrients till they root then keep it in a bubbler or what?REad cloning 101 by Zandor at the top of basic growing forum. In cloning 101 Zandor talks about using an anti-wilt to keep the leaves from drooping, He said it was what they used for vege's and flower's in stores to keep them looking healthy and pretty, for us. but it acts as an anti-wilt (we don't use a dome) zandor also, stated that he had researched a couple of others in stores and they would probably work as well, but the common thing in these leaf cleaners or shiners or MAKE-UP
is the waxy content...so, I went all over town and found 2 or 3 different products, but wanted to check, which substitutes would work...I confirmed that it was a cosmetic product for leaves and that it was waxy...so I went to Wally's and bought MG leaf shine...Now, I want to state, here and now.I don't use any other MG products and never will, but I found my leaf-shine!!!
A quick RANT!
I don't mind if you don't agree with my methods, but I have successful grows and I'm happy, I have helped a few folks out on this site, once I got the experience to do so. But, Stormcooker calling me stupid pisses me off, so, no offense met to anyone else, but Stormcooker,FUCK OFF!!!

5. soiless clone exp.#2
I think I am going to place them in flower tonight...
I enlarged my room and added a clonestation/shelf...still working on lights,
will post thread on indoor growing later on...thanks for all of your support,
and let's keep enjoying helping each other become better growers...

Sweet!! :)I've done my homework, you can tell,
But, I would've never known how easy it is to clone without all your work Zandor. You do not need a humidity dome to clone!..cloning 101...
On behalf of all the other heads here at cDOTcom, I thank you!

Just a quick word or 2...Phaze II is thriving! all 8 6dwc/2orchid mix exp.
are about 14-20" tall now w/anywhere from 1 to 7 leaves and secondary and new growth is frenetic...the undergrowth looks like a spider web! :D No shit.
they haven't quite gotten pistil's yet, but I expect these will be sweet...6-7 weeks until harvest...I've got to get them finished to make way for my Blueberry Jack replacements and KK sent me Misty Blue as a gesture of good faith...Misty blue is a cross between Original Misty...which is WW x ?(can't remember) and Sagamarthas Blueberry Sativa Male :p :p :p ...I'm pretty excited about that one. :D ..I'll try and update exact cross that makes up Original Misty later...
thanks for visiting...latewood :)

I have 7 clones now, culled tranny clone the other night...6 bubbling
the other 1 in Schultz Orchid mix/perlite.
1. I just spread them out, because I moved "Mongo" to the side to await execution...any day now!!! :D
2. Moving left, looking at same corner...
3. Left side, These are my 2 nicest budding females, the one on the right is my orchid mix experiment... :D :D love this stuff!!! :)
...I just fed them week 4 bloom nutes, and put them to bed...
4. This one is for Marc; as he marvels after all the beautiful, intoxicating, secondary growth that we all lust after, yet few achieve...lmao...just kidding
these were taken in flower and they reverted back, I couldn't believe it; all the flowers went completely away, and turned into new growth...what you see now
I think that's it for now, I have 2 other threads to catch up with

Here are couple of pics 6 hydro dwc and 1 orchid mix that's kicking ass :)
I can't believe that the plant in Orchid Mix is keeping up with the DWC Clones
Schultz Orchid Mix w/ Advanced nutrients 3-part and superthrive :) ...I think I am going to add some B-52 and liquid karma, maybe not...She's growing so well that I might leave her alone...I did add my full recipe 1 time about a month ago...pix taking longer than normal

this was my 1st cloner...I couldn't get a pump at the time, but I had an extra airpump. So I read up on bubble cloning at various sites, and came up with this.

this was my 1st cloner...I couldn't get a pump at the time, but I had an extra airpump. So I read up on bubble cloning at various sites, and came up with this.

i use a bubbler cloner, just a 3 gallon rubbermaid with a few airstones and an airpump. roots in about 10 days. The second there is a root nub showing, in 2 days there are too many roots to transplant. I just use freakin water! My friend does the same thing and uses a fancy root accelerator that is $70 for 10oz. His root in 3-4 days depending on the strain. No yellowing leaves, no pH fluctuation like with Rockwool. One of my unknown seed strains roots in about a week. Trainwreck takes 10 or 12 days.
