The first time I got stoned was from a Joint. I love my bong, but I seem to get higher from a Joint. Do you get different highs based on what you smoke with?

In a nutshell, most definately.

My first thought would be, that the highs differ in overall intensity and speed of onset based upon the method of delivery used. This would make the highs seem different, in my opinion.

Then it seems that the bong would be the greater high, considering the larger amount of smoke taken in from a rip than a casual puff of the J, I would imagine.

In my experience, gravity bongs have been known to make one hit of dank mids fuck you over realllll good.
Bongs are way more of an intense high then a joint. Joints are so much more relaxed and that's why I love 'em.

They usually all level off the same peak if the same amount of smoke was consumed in each. A bong just hits you quicker so you feel the hit and get a heady where as a doob just builds up on you, and a doobs worth of weed in a gravity bong will demonise you at first then they all just seem to level out to a lazy fried mirno.

Yeah, a joint will force you to smoke a certain amount of weed in a certain time frame (however long it takes the joint to burn all the way), while with a bong you can space it out more. I think that's why you (and I) get higher with joints, but bongs can fuck you up royally if you don't forget to keep toking.

I think Ermitonto is on to something. If you're smoking a bong, then you've got to empty out the bowl. Usually, I find that when I'm smoking a bowl, I tend to break up the weed as I go; when I smoke a J, by definition, the opposite is true.
The feeling I get after smoking, say, 2 or 3 grams in a bowl, is one of being nicely toasted. When I keep smoking, I'll get really spaced out. If I roll the same amount into a J, however, I'll get more of an intense head-rush.
Could this be because smoking the J, which is unfiltered, puts more toxins into me with the unprocessed smoke? Kind of like the difference between smoking an unfiltered cigarette and a filtered one?
Mysteries abound!

Well presumably your bowl isn't filtered either.

might i also add that it seems to be the first method i use durring the day that affects pretty much the rest of my day....i.e. if i wake up and smoke on a joint i'm going to be up all day and clear headed and want to talk alot, or if i smoke a bong i don't wanna do nothing all day but lay around watch tv, play games...stuff like that where i can just zone out and be in my own world

The piece you use doesn't matter as much as the strain of Ganja it is (i.e. Sativa or Indica).

i find it harder to get good tokes with a joint, so i never smoke a joint if its my weed. i would say that a joint is a much lighter high, i feel more tipsy then stoned of a joint. bongs give me a really mellow quiet high, often a feeling of being too stoned. pipes are the merry middle, not too light but not too heavy.

Yeah, I think i'm onto blunts a hell of a lot more these days. If you roll a nice cone blunt, it just gets you so fucking stoned that you'll never believe that you smoked jays.

how about blunts or gasmasks?

I've actually tried gaskmasks, but I think that's just fucking idiotic. I mean, me and a bunch of petulant juniors were drunk off our asses and found it funny, but how, may I ask, can I chat up girls with a fucking mask on my face? LOL/LMFAO

Whats amazing about the cone, unlike all other structures, is that you don't get the problems associated with the traditional blunt; as you smoke it, you're eventually smoking less, so there's really none of that shiity taste you get when all of the junk has been pulled through. I get the pre-rolled Cyclones with a roach rolled into it, so it hits smooth as a motherfucker and you smoke all of it in one extended sitting. I could never understand that mentality of lighting one up, taking 10 or 12 puffs and putting it out.

Joints are as I've noted before, my favorite. A good J is always a good mellow smoke with a strong rolling buzz. =)

See, for me, smoking a blunt is like smoking 5 joints; it's that fucking good, dude.
