View Full Version : Locking threads based on personal feelings.

Okay, I don't feel that the locking of the stip-club midgets thread was a big loss for the site. I don't imagine many potential members will be scared away because they can't talk about stripping midgets, nor that any already existant members will leave due to this ((severe!!!)) restriction. -laughs-

But del..., if you don't mind me saying, you didn't exactly justify closing the thread. I recognize you have a trump card over me as a moderator, and therefor don't actually have to justify your actions, but I think it would probably be the right thing to do.

Tons of threads debase certain groups of people with severe insensitivity. Stripping midgets, Wiggers, Chavs, the list can and does go on. It may have been a relatively insensitive thread, but since when are threads closed for insensitivity? I'm new around here, so bear with me, but I just haven't seen it done here before.

To translate that blatant sarcasm that I'm sure you had no trouble translating ((I just don't want you to take that opportunity to take my sarcasm seriously to your advantage)):

"I've seen alot of insensitive threads at this site. ALOT. I've seen alot of normal threads devolve into severe insensitivity. None of them have been closed without a flamewar being mindlessly started due to the easily flammable subject matter. Don't forget all the members we have that think all the little brown people deserve blowing up aren't censored. So why would the people who like to talk insensitively about stripping midgets censored?"

I'm sure you get the jist of my post, del... And I apologize if I offended you if you're a midget or close to one. But you have to keep in mind the whole "different strokes for different folks" deal. And I think you do in most cases. Which is why you don't shut down a thread every time it's insensitive.

Perhaps the stripping midgets thread deserved to be moved to sexuality rather then to be closed? Just a thought, since as soon enter the sexuality portion of the boards you're bombarded with threads that the average person would find blatantly insensitive.

I look forward to your response. No hard feelings or anything. I was just curious.

they should change the "feedbakc and suggestions" to "bitch about mods" section, cuz thats all it is now.

-laughs- You have an odd definition of bitching hydrizzle. Where would you prefer I had posted this?

Anyway, thanks for the mindless post that added nothing to the topic. You're really doing your best to keep this site cool as well, and Im glad to see it. ^^

I thought I should explain my "-laughs- You have an odd definition of bitching hydrizzle." comment to you Hydrizzle, because I have a strong feeling you won't understand it.

My original post was in no way bitching about del...'s capabilities as a moderator. I know he has them. Perhaps you should look at the other threads and comment in those ones instead? ^.^ Like the one that has no real point except "I don't like beeble, others dont too, unmod him plx." I don't mind people bitching about moderators, but you did pick the wrong thread to say that in. There are actual threads in this section of the forum that bitch about the moderators, the only reason you picked this one, is either A. Because you don't like me or because B. You saw all those other ones, and then saw one more that could have been mis-interpreted as bitching if the whole thing wasn't read or you were stoned and it just so happened that this one just turned out to be that "last straw" kind of deal.

I wasn't bitching about del... End of story. I wasn't bitching at all even. I was asking why the thread was locked, instead of just blindly accepting it as locked. I don't bitch about moderators. I did once, and it was del... who I bitched about. Over the whole stupid penguin deal. It was a while back though, before you were even here. But I think his moderating style has changed quite a bit from the time I bitched about him and now. ((not because of me bitching or anything, just after the fact that I bitched)) Before he locked stupid threads, it seems he caught on that we cannabis members as a whole have a tendency towards enjoying stupidity. So he stopped wasting his time closing them because it would just spawn more stupid threads begging the question "Why was my stupid thread closed?" and we weren't accepting "Well, because it was stupid." as a good enough answer. -laughs-

Conclusion: I wasn't bitching, merely posing a question. Learn the difference between mindless bitching and making an situationally-educated post with a real purpose. I didn't say "del... suckz az moderatrr" That would have been bitching about a mod. Del... is a wonderful moderator. Because he's really just. -shrugs- I sort of see the moderators as a group of super heroes. Del... is the one with the intense sense of justice. He can be superman. Beeble can be the Flash, because he's really quick. Ron will be batman, a mere human with mad skillz.

Anyway, Hydrizzle, I expect an apology imediately. -laughs- Im kidding, you don't seem like the apology type at all, and I expect nothing of the sort from you.

I think if enough People share the same General "feeling" about a certain subject then why shouldnt it be aired.?
Censorship for example.
you make it sound like its an individual problem when it really isnt..

I laughed while reading the thread, but I did feel twinge of guilt bad feeling. May be this is only way she can make descent money. Right or wrong people shouldn't have to sell themselves to feed themselves. Money rules!! not the right or wrong

The fact of the matter is there is a very well defined line on what is considered attractive. Everybody knows it. And midgets rarely fall into that category. That's not to say some people aren't attracted to them, but it is to say that most people aren't.

Since the most people aren't attracted to midgets, and strip clubs are interested in making the most money by attracting the most people... midgets+stripclub doesn't make sense to average user of simple logic. So the guy asked. The people answered. Some of us gave insensitive answers, but they were still true answers. But I hadn't seen a closed thread for being insensitive ever before and I was hoping it wouldn't become regular thing?

I don't want to see the site shaped around what he defines as insensitve. No one else really seemed offended.

Sorry if I made it seem like an "individual problem", but I honestly don't see how I do. It was a question directed at del... though, moreso then anyone else. The question being "since when does this happen? -laughs-" Maybe I overcomplicated it, but I didn't realize that's what the exact question of the post at the time.

hahahahahhahha im sorry but when i have seen soooooo many threads about "omg beebs is bad, the mods all suck kk thx". thats why i posted that comment, i mean, look at how many threads there are bitching about mods (oh, im sorry, "posting concerns" is that better?) just more crap that will be ignored by the mods.... so what do i have to apologise for again? a little confused here.

-laughs- Clever use of an ebaumsworld humor! hahah It's making me laugh, but only because I didn't actually think anyone was corny enough to use those.

PS - If you'll read your post again ((the one with the richard simmons picture)) you'll actually see that you DID apologize and for the exact reason I wanted. -laughs- Though I know those were not your actual intentions with your words thanks to the rest of your ridiculous post.

PPSS - Posting pictures with words that aren't actually funny, to express your opinons has become cliche Especially when they're stolen from the same place everyone else steals them from.

surely you have more important subjects to protest about other than why a 'stripping dwarf' thread was pulled. you have so many opinions about how a site should be run...why don't you open one! or try posting the same crap at ANY of the other top sites!

in the meantime you must suffer through how we run things here...

If you could, in the pet peeve thread there were very derogotive remarks made about the overweight. As well as one thread in particular (I forget where its at) where a member went into detail about his overweight blind date to a nauseating degree. If that wasn't derogatory and offensive I dont know what is. Oh right, midget strippers are offensive....to you. Why weren't you on your moral high horse in either of those threads with "I hope you guys are perfect, ASSHOLES! THREAD CLOSED!!!!"

It's called recognizing your personal PERSPECTIVE and having some CONSISTANCY, Del. And most of all having a SENSE OF HUMOR. From my perspective - based on your closing of the midget thread - you very much are lacking in ALL areas.

Nobody was hating on midgets, not like the disgust Ive seen from members towards the overweight which you have no problem leaving those threads open where actual hate and vulgarity are being used towards a large population of people.

As far as the little-person thread went - I think you went on a full-fledged ego-trip, and I really hope you had a nice visit in morally superior-ville.

That is all.

I, unfortunately, was not as polite as Encatuse, when it comes to Mr. Del's decisions and abilities as a moderator because as a NOOB the only decisions Ive seen are stated above. So forgive my attitude regarding your thought-process, Del, when it comes to closing of threads. This is the only experience Ive have with you and your exercising of powers as a mod, so sorry if my opinion of you is a low one thus far. I trust Encatuse has good judgement about people, though. He seems like a smart chap. Good sense of humor, too. I like people who have a sense of humor. :)

the point y'all are missing is this was going on at the 'front page' of this site...iow, the entry point of most new members coming into our midst. that is the only reason the lounge is kept a bit cleaner than the others. play all the games ya want and twist the words however you wish but this has always been our policy here and elsewhere. if you want to post about tossing your baby kittens down the stairwell fine...but find a room other than the lounge or general rooms. if any of you here complaining had ever bothered to notice, the "lifestyles" section isn't moderated at all and i've never understood why it can't be taken there! well that is false...i do know why. it wouldn't make the drama of all this ongoing, neverending diatribe.

we compromised by giving you those open rooms...use them! that's all..what's so hard about that?

A sticky warning put in the lounge letting members know that you guys police whats said there more than any other section of the forums would be nice. I searched for posting guidelines...but I guess I didn't search heard enough since I couldn't find any. So I guess I did miss the point...cuz it wasn't made until now as far as Im aware. If I missed the sections where your posting guidelines are for each forum(reminder: Im a noob), please point me to it, so I can have some clarity on what is and what is not okay here. I dont like being called an ASSHOLE.

Stop exaggerating. This isn't a diatribe. I don't have "so many suggestions". If you would have read the very first paragraph in my very first post you would know I wasn't protesting it's removal, just curiously asking if there was an actual reason or if it was just because you don't like us being the perfect assholes we all so clearly are.

I didn't attack you. Get off the defense. Shit man, I called you superman! Talk about regret, more like super..-thinks-..superjerk!!!!! haaaA pwnnneed ((lol, not really))

Your justification was very well said and definatley made sense... but only after you actually typed it. You can't expect us to grasp something you don't even tell us can you? Oh, and I can't imagine the creator of the thread put it in the lounge with intentions of inducing this whole dramatic diabolical depressingly diminished diatribe.

"Don't put this shit in our lounge, it deters decent human beings from joining our site and encourages insensitive dipshits like some of you. This is not the image we want to give potential members of cannabis.com" isn't that hard... and you'd still get to insult us to verify that you are indeed morally more upstanding then us. ^^ Best of both worlds was my thought, but to each their own. ((I'm not presenting this is a plausible option, because that would make it a suggestion, and I'm in the wrong part of the forum for that apparently))

Ah well, in the meantime I'll just have to SSSUUUFFFFEEERRR through your communist reign over our community. One day though del..., one day I'll lead the people in a rebellion. And when that day comes...... you'll ban me. ((ha! A joke to lighten the mood del...! A joke a joke! An innocent jest!))

-tosses some baby kittens down a stairwell-

I'm sorry this thread turned into shit though. I could have just as easily emailed the question to del personally, but at the time I didn't think of it.
