I believe Albert Hoffman, the guy who discovered LSD has been quoted as saying that it does no psychological damage at all.

Albert Hoffman was the first to synthesize LSD in 1938. In April of 1943 he was the first subjected to the drugs effects, Hoffman is still alive. I remember hearing that he still trips somewhere but I can't verify that.

Timothy Leary was a pyschologist who began experimenting with LSD in the 1960s and advocated its use, he died in 1996.

physically its completely safe. (or as safe as any drug can be.) Psychologically it tends to be completely safe as long as you dont have any psychological problems to begin with, but bad psychological reactions to acid aren't unheard of.

LSD works by causing increased activity on 5ht receptors in the brain, hence it's a 5ht agonist.

toxioligically it's extremely safe. 500 micrograms is a very high dose of LSD and the lethal dose is about 30 times that.

5-HT is the receptor that serotonin binds to, the chemical name for serotonin is 5-hydroxytryptamine. LSD also binds to 5-HT receptors, and has a higher binding affinity to 5HT receptors than serotonin does. To help you understand, this means the 5HT receptors actually 'like' LSD more than serotonin.

man i loved reading the first LSD trip journal ever by this guy, he's like seeing witchs and everything, its funny as hell

Still Alive:
Albert Hofmann

Info: Swiss chemist who was the first to synthesize the drug LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), he discovered its effect when he accidently ingested some
Date of Birth: 01/11/1906
Current age: 99
---------------------------------------------------------
Up until very recently, he still tripped on LSD 2X a month. Maybe he's cut it down a bit to 1X a month now lol!

i knew both binded to 5ht receptors, but i was unaware that LSD does so more effectively. that's interesting that a foreign chemical to the body works better than the chemical occuring naturally.

That is total bullshit. The only way your going to cause nervous system damage with acid is if you take it and then jump off a building and break your neck. (Dont know why ne1 would do that, but...)

I think "bad" is a pretty simple term anyways. Anything can be "bad" under the right circumstances.

If you're sitting at home with some friends and nothing to do for a while, LSD is not bad.

At a family reunion, probably not the best idea. Then again, it would be funny seeing smurfs come out of Grandpa's nose.
