View Full Version : Lucid dreaming while awake?
Its strange, I have only had one lucid dream before that i remember but yesterday had what I can only describe as a lucid dream while awake.
I was stuck in some strange state of mind where logic played no role. I could percieve my thoughts as all these overlapping pictures. In the dream i was a velociraptor I could feel my tail and everything and during all this my eyes were open. When someone would say my name I would try to bring myself out of it. I could then sit up and respond then i would slide back into that state. Today the feeling remains somewhat although it has been steadily fading. the differnce is that today i am capable of rationalizing what happened and the thoughts and the way of thinking where as then i was completely spun.

What you experienced are known as hypnogogic hallucinations (http://trikuare.cx/writing/Hypnagogia/ch004.html). The precise causes are not well understood, but the phenomenon is not at all uncommon. They are implicated in many so-called "alien abduction" stories.

Yeah I've gotten more and more instances of that from OBE practice and exercise. It's just your mind being creative, no worse than when you were a little kid and your daydreaming skills were at their peak.
do you personaly think it is a good thing? and what method do you use to come out of it?

I've had similar experiences, and personally, I enjoyed them.

I didn't try to snap out of it, I just eventually did, except on one occasion i fell asleep. I would imagine that if you get up and walk around, you'd snap out of it pretty quickly.

i do this as well. the first time i noticed this was 5 years ago when i was a "rookie" at getting stoned and i smoked up and was in my buddy's basement went on windows media player and listened to the song "flying in a blue dream" by Joe Satriani
at first my eyes were open and i watched the visualization in WMP, eventualyl my eyes closed but i still saw the visuals, in fact i saw them more clearly and its like i got sucked into them and it became all around me i was the particle of energy controleld by the lead note of the guitar and i was moving throguh warp tunnells in which the walls were changing scenerey that seemed to cometpely real that would change according to the sound of the note/sound of the lead guitar...i was literally flying in a blue dream
it was amazing, ive been donig it ever since with all kinds of music
most music will give you this effect, just some better than others - you just gotta sit and relax compeltely think about nothing and lay down or something close your eyes or not it works either way

Well I once went through about half a year where i got really into lucid dreaming and figured out how to do it while I was asleep, but one day I was dreaming and I did the trick where you look at works, look away, and then look back and if they change you are dreaming and control your mind. The words actually were the same, so I went 4 minutes trying to make my friend tell me I was dreaming, and I decided running into a wall would be a good idea so i jumped into it using my shoulder and then woke up instantly to severe shoulder pain. I only am able to lucid dream on occasion now.
But no, that never happened to me.

I love lucid dreaming cause you can control everything in it, cause it's all in your head. The trouble is holding onto it. It only happens when your close to waking up, so you have to fight that, and you can't fall deeper asleep, cause you'll forget it's a dream. A good trick I learned is look at your hands in the dream. This kinda stabilises it.
As for the hallucinations, yeah I get that sometimes. My last one was like a 2D video game in my head. My mind created the "levels" so I had no idea what was coming, but I could control the "character" and explore the levels. They looked like coloured bricks on a plain background, but with each passsing level the bricks changed colours. For some reason I heard myself repeating meaningless words throughout the experience. I snapped out of it pretty snappy when my friends started talking to me though.
Oh, by the way, this only happened when I ate hash, never when I smoked it. I've never eaten weed so I don't know how it compares.
