Beginner Vaporizer Questions

ive been reading abut vaporizers and i am planning to make one out of a lighbulb. i have some questions about using it

1-how far should i hold the flame from the bottom of the bulb
2-how long should i keep the flame under the bulb before i begin to draw
3-how long before the weed is no good and useless
4-can i just hold a flame under my pipe's bowl and use the pipe as a vaporizer?

hm..

1-the flame can be anywhere just under the weed thats all...swirl though..dont hold in one spot..
2-well what i do is warm it for about 10sec. then after another 10 i take a long deep suck and i can feel the vap..and only see a VERY slight smoke in the right light..otherwise u cant see it..let it cool of from time to time..
3-the weed isnt good when it starts to taste different..you'll know when that taste kicks in..plus the buds are all black n burnt
4-i dont know...lol

To answer number 4... probobly not, but you can do it with eagle bill's vaporizing pipe http://www.eaglebill.com/htm/frameset.htm. (Apparently Bill passed away in may :( ).
Anyways... it won't work with a regular glass pipe, or metal pipe because the hole in the bowl is at the bottom... meaning your flame isn't nearly close enough to cook the weed. Eagle bill's design makes the bowl the part where you actually put the flame up to, and the stem hole is on the side of the bowl.
