im having a little fun expiermenting with flourescent lighting and im using all different kinds of bulbs in different locations, anyway although it may sound stupid can u use a blacklight as a main source at any stage of your plants veg cylce???? ;) :cool:

yes cause its not about the actual light its about the uv rays or watts it puts out

hey, so you saying just because theres no light i can still use it because of the light spectrum and uv output. I also wuz thinking that the blacklight could be a source of heat. is this true as well???

Thats nonsense seven it all about lumens per watt and using the right spectrum for each stage of growth.

umm a blacklights will grow tiny shity nasty buds, hippies in the late 60s found that out dude! read any of ed rosenthals growing books and plz don't curculate your "expieraments" .....it not cool to waste your time and everyone elses lungs growing cruddy weed

Hmmm...Never heard of anyone using blacklights before, but I've settled
on fluorescents for a few reasons...
First, they're cheap. I can hang a compact fluorescent lamp with a
gooseneck type fixture and spring clamp for about $12.00.
Low heat level is another advantage of fluoros. Put 'em up close, REALLY
close, and your plants go nuts!
Stealth is a third advantage. The light from compact fluoros looks close
to that from normal incandescents, but your plants love it. And, it's not as
obvious as the light from HPS.
Safety is another factor that can't be ignored. That big ballast box full
of juice near anything combustible, let alone water, is too much for me to
bear!

If I had the guts, money and drive to build a safe setup, I'd go for HPS,
but I'm amazed at the production I'm getting from a few cheap compact
fluoros (and a little mylar, too).

Hand of Man, what type of yields are you getting from your compact flouros per plant?

I've only finished my second grow, so I'm still ironing out some bugs.
My last grow gave only 14-15 grams per plant
I have a current plant nearly 4 ft high, nice and bushy, that I revived from
a twig under (3) 24 watt fluoros. I've also recently learned about bone meal;
I never added nutrients during flowering before, but bone meal is high in
P while low in N.
This plant will be put into flowering mode as soon as I have room in that
area...stay tuned!
