Some stupid, chinese/japanese woman just phoned me and said "Is Mr. (insert my last name here) there?"
me: "No, he's out at the moment sorry"
her: "Yeah Sure" (sounding like ya sho)

Then she didn't hang up, so i was listening to this chinese/japanese man and woman talking to other people on the phone, then talking to each other about what someone's dad was doing, and i had a squeeking cat toy in my hand and so i proceeded to start making it squeek down the phone, and shouting, "where ya gone son, where ya gone?"
She then came back, and said, "Hello?" so i said, "finally.. biatch" and hung up *proud*

Also last night (my dad likes to take the piss) my dad was on the phone to some guy who was trying to sell him a phone (rang him 3 times all ready in the day) for half an hour just saying stuff like "I all ready have a phone and don't need any others, unless it's free" and was asking for free phone's and just generally taking the piss, it was pretty cool:)

...Josh:)

She just rang back, more politely though

her: Hello is a Mr. (insert last name here) there?
me: no, sorry he's out at the moment (not sure if it was the same woman, but i think it is)
her: ok is a Mrs. (insert last name here) there?
me: no she's out too
her: ok thanks for your time, bye
me: in a bit x

God I hate telemarketers, wherever they are from. The worst are the ones who can barely speak English though. Now I have nothing against people whose primary language isn't English. English is actually my wife's 2nd language and I've lived in another country and know how hard it is to learn a 2nd language. But for Christ's sake, if you're gonna employ someone whose job it is to speak to English speaking people, they really should know how to do it.

Usually I just hang up on telemarketers but sometimes if I'm bored I like to play with them a bit. One of my favorites is to to let them go through their sales pitch, saying things like "wow", "sounds great" etc etc. Then, when they finally go for the kill and try to close the sale I'll say something like "sorry, actually I'm not at all interested, I just wanted to waste your time since you're wasting mine". Most don't know how to respond.

well i don't know about birmingham england, but here in the U.S. we have what's called a "national do-not-call list" that you can be put on so those annoying bastards will stop calling. typically over here, if it's a telemarketer, they won't answer you immediately, so that's when i usually hang up, when i say "hello" and i don't hear anything back

yeah, they take a second or two to respond, and i find it a stupid job, because does anybody really buy anything they offer? i know i wouldn't!

Yep, the do not call list is a great thing. I also have an unlisted # but they still call sometimes. The best(worst) are the new ones that don't even use a real person. You pick up the phone and a recording says somehting like we're sorry, all of our operators are busy, please hold for this important... I've never heard the rest. I wonder how many people actulally hold for these

Yesterday, I bought some stuff at Lowes (a hardware/home improvement megastore). Around dinner time, a telemarketer called me up to administer a survey pertaining to my Customer Service experience there. Now, this pissed me off, because I was never informed on the receipt or by a salesperson that I was entering into a contract that essentially waived my status on the Do-Not-Call registry because I was patronizing their establishment. I figured once my cash left my hand and went into their cash drawer, our business was done. If they told me that they'd knock off a few bucks if I agreed to take a phone survey later, that's one thing, but dammit, I already paid for my freakin' paint roller, so just leave me be!
The telemarketer did speak english, though, so I guess that's a plus. I spoke German for most of the conversation, so they hung up pretty quickly, which was even better. I'm not completely fluent in german, but I can say a bunch of nonsensical gibberish like "The chickens are driving trucks to the party on this day, my friend!". That gets rid of them pretty quickly.

hahahaha that's too funny...german gibberish, like those dumb corny sentences in spanish textbooks that nobody will ever use like "my uncle has a unicycle"

Some times people phone my house and ask to book an appointment for the hairdresser. Now this would be perfectly normal if only my house was actually a hairdressers. So anyways I got a call the other day when I was fairly bricked so I decided to book them in for a 4 O'clock appointment. Bet their gonna be pissed off when they go to get a hair cut and find out they never even booked one in.

Actually thats a pretty crap story...

That isn't a crap story, that'll be funny when it happens, if they get the address wrong too and go to your house, if so i suggest you cut their hair, and just say "well if you didn't want bald patches, you shouldn't have come to me" then bitch slap them and send 'em packin'
