You must be using MS Internet Explorer. It sucks. Go here (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) and download the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. Yes, it's a pain in the ass to switch browsers, since you have to tweak all your settings, import your bookmarks and get used to a whole new set of menus and features, but in the long run, you'll be happier. Firefox is arguably the best browser available, and it's free.

No, it's more of a "we'll see, but don't hold your breath". A definitive answer can only come from Ron bennett himself, as this is his website to run as he sees fit. I do know that Firefox will do what you want without necessitating us to make modifications to the board software. That's the very best I can do for you until Ron answers. I will bring this thread to his attention.

Software modifications require significantly more work than that to accomplish effectively. No only must the coding be done and uploaded, but it must be thoroughly tested to ensure correct functionality without unintended consequences, and it must be well documented so that the modification can be ported to an upgrade to future vB versions, as well as allowing Gelsoft to properly provide support for this particular installation. I'm a veteran of many such modifications, and I can tell you from experience that doing it right is the best defence against future catastrophe: it is perfectly possible to wipe out the entire MySQL database with a single, poorly planned SQL query, for example.

I wasn't aware the font size was fixed...
I just tried changing this, but appears to be very tricky (changes seem to throw the whole display out of whack) due to the design of the VBulletin (VB) message board software.
The banners are inserted by a software program we wrote and is why it allows the user's browser to determine font size...
VB, like most software, makes assumptions on what the visitor is using/has; puts style over substance, since the perception by many web designers, likely rightly so, is that most visitors want fancy graphics and glitz.
If you and/or anyone can post here/PM me the CSS changes in VB that need to be made, I'll see what I can do.
In the meantime, if the text size issue is making this board mostly unusable for you, please visit the Marihemp Network message boards - it runs on custom software that respects the preferences of the user's web browser; text size, etc may be freely changed there.

If you and/or anyone can post here/PM me the CSS changes in VB that need to be made, I'll see what I can do. I'll see what I can dig up, though it would probably be faster if you emailed me the relevant CSS files, and I can make the necessary changes and send them back for you to upload. In the meantime, I'm looking at the vbulletin.com forums to see if I can find a ready-made solution.

At long last, it appears we finally have the font size issue figured out after some glitches the last time we tried changing it.
Some fonts are still fixed so as to not break the board layout, but message board text, subjects, post dates, usernames, etc are now all user resizable.

This is hardly a solution. Now the default font is bigger than it should be requiring us to decrease the font size for the page to appear normal. In turn this decreases the size of the small fonts, totally throwing everything out of whack. Very, very annoying.
You can easily have scalable fonts without distorting the original GUI.

Broken in both Firefox and IE when "normal" font size is selected.

The problem is people that use IE demand accessibility features. These users should use something like Firefox that makes simple things like font size adjustment available on every page, regardless of whether the site designer has planned for them. Using em's in CSS is ridiculous. A while back all the standards guys thought it was cool and everyone adopted it. Even their sites are back to their static selves these days. Unfortunately, as you have seen, hardcoding relative font sizes causes a whole other set of problems.
If you need accessibility, download a browser that actually cares about you, and stop sending site designers running around writing 300 lines of code to replace one because your browser uses rendering concepts from 1991.
vBulletin doesn't help. Take a look at the code on even their default template. Endless lines of CSS including browser hacks galore. Apparently if you can trick the w3c into validating your page you're justified in advertising a standards compliant forum.
Such a nightmare! Good luck!

It all looks normal now, except everybody's username is smaller than usual. It looks a little odd, but nothing I can't get used to I guess.

Username smaller? Do you mean such as in posts next to one's avatar?
If so, that's an easy one for us to adjust.

Yes, that's what I mean. Those names were all smaller than usual for some reason (but it seems that's been fixed now).

First, close your browser and reload the page - some adjustments were made awhile ago. If still no good, if using MSIE click on View and be sure you're using default Medium Text Size.
There is no "simple" fix ... the font size problem in VBulletin is a deceptively difficult one to solve due to the nature and purpose of HTML.

Well, it's been an interesting adventure ... and after all that, the font sizes have been changed back to what they were before.
Many people couldn't get used to the change, and there were numerous glitches being reported by visitors and mods alike - it was getting to be like whack-a-mole ... solving one font size problem seem to create a bunch of others, and ultimately no reasonable solution could be found other than rolling the font changes back to before.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but there appears to be no simple way to solve the font size problem on this side. For folks seeking control over font size, please consider using Firefox.
Ron
