yah youcan grow it till harvest but you wont be able to grow very big plants because the styrofome will sink. look into a dwc 5 gal. bucket system.

Itâ??s will not work anyway. If you float Styrofoam on top of the water how are the roots going to get air? Roots need air as well and if you keep them in water they will die. Itâ??s not a very good way to grow roots need air.

And that's not Hydroponics, that's just a bucket of water big difference.

then, how come my plants, which have their roots submersed in water, in a bucket, are not dead?
plants can be grown the way this person has described. he said an air pump was to supply oxygen to the water. i have seen little plastic kiddie pools used for this same type of growing, and believe me it works. net cups set in styrofoam, floating in a pool of oxygenated water(air stones, even just a water pump circulating the water)will work'
i do believe using a soiless mixture and water does make it hydroponic.
but that`s just my opinion.

but that`s just my opinion. There are always exceptions to every rule. I'm not talking about the roots dipping into the water. They all do but when you drown the root ball in water 24/7 you are only asking for trouble. Hydroponics is something I take very serious and I am very passionate about it as well. (can you tell, lol)

But good luck anyway.
