heart beating like mad

So a couple of weeks ago I was over at a friends and they had a bong going, which I hardly ever do (only joints usually), so I sort of did a really strong hit all at once... after a few moments my heart starting beating real hard and fast, and it wouldn't stop even if I breathed real slow. it was pumping so hard I was sort of starting to feel dizzy and my legs and arms were sort of twitching from time to time (cos of the bloodflow I guess).
It kept up til I got home and managed to fall asleep, and I was feeling fine the next day.

I just thought I'd had too much... but then, a week or two later, I took some really light puffs off a joint and it started again. Not as bad as the time before, but still there was an abnormal rythm to the heartbeat, and it again it only went away til I'd slept through the night.

I don't know why this is happening, I've never had these effects smoking weed before and I'd like to continue to do so, but not with those kind of effects :(
What do you think is up with all that? I thought maybe it was more mental, like I was stressing myself about it and that caused my heart to beat like that... but I really have no idea.

Any help/answers'd be really appreciated!!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think someone that doesn't smoke a lot(either by amount in one sitting or frequency) will get the rapid heartbeat; a chronic smoker will get the slower heartbeat. I also read somewhere that people with preexisting heart disease or conditions shouldn't toke as much. :eek:

Holy shit, that happened to me too man. I was playing some video game after some bong rips and then my heart just started to go crazy, I could feel it beating hard while i was sitting there, I just stood up and walked around a little and it slowly went away. Scary shit.

Then I took some more rips and it started to do it again, I just drank some water and it went away and never happened since.
I mean it was beating fast as shit I thought I was gonna have to go to tha hospital, lol

My mom asid its Probably somehting I ate earlier or just some reaction to a medicine.

Same here. That happend once in my friends basement. After we all got done matching bowls out of the tube, I was getting ready to spark a cig, and my heart just started pumping so hard. This lasted for like 5 mins. I went outside, took some deep breaths, and I was fine. I think I had a panic attack, because I was really high and i probably had to go home or something and I jsut started sketching out about it. Same idea as a bad mushroom trip---No fun

I think it's your heightened sense of feeling which makes you think it's beating harder, when in reality, it's not. I know what you're talking about though, I've had the same thing happen to me. If you're sober, you can't feel your heart beating. But when you're high, you can.

Yeah, I suppose it's cause I'm usually just a weekend smoker... but I never noticed it before those two times, that's what I thought was so weird.

At first I also thought I was just imagining it, but my sister felt my heartbeat and said it was really abnormal too =/
she also said I could have died... but she's never smoked weed or even drank alcohol herself before so I don't know if that's reliable. What do you think?

Its normal for your heart to beat real fast....doesent happen all the time but it does once in awhile. perfectly normal. U just got paraniod, also normal. Dont worry, smoke up, and enjoy. You wont die. :)

I SMOKED one time and my heart beated to bad that my whole left side of my chest was hurt and numb i felt like i was going to die literally i tuaght that i was going to have a hurt attack even when i smoke my heart beats fast as hell

u smoked too much lol. I had that happen to me when i first got blunted. I ran upstairs into my room and started paniking on the floor wondering if i should tell my mom, if i should call the hospital, and then i was starting to forget wat I was just thinking about so I would panic cuz sumthing could have been important. I laid down and barfed by my bed. Then I cleaned it up, barfed again in the bathroom, and went to sleep. But im not sorry it happend because now i kno how much is enough. Still alive.

I noticed everything inside my body a lot more, such as pulsing veins, my stomach digesting ect. Atleast I feel like I'm feeling it. Maybe you're just like me :)

Yeah, first time I properly smoked weed on my own (ages ago, this is), I think I seriously over did it.. my mouth was stupidly dry, my heart rate soared ridiculously. This made me really panic, thinking i was going to have a heart attack and stuff :|

And your heartbeat will speed up a bit when you're high regardless. It's to do with venular dilation, lower blood pressure and all that shit.

Never had that experience with the heart, the most stoned I've ever been, I just lied there awhile. I smoke a shitload, so it takes a lot to do overdo it.

the first time i got REALLY high i felt like that..like my 2nd time smoking we smoke like 5 g's of sticky regs in 2 blunts with 5 heads..i was ripped..ive never felt my heart beating so hard...it was crazy..after that i was in love with mary jane.

i get that. my parents allow me to blaze in my room as long as i don't burn the house down lol. so i always get an amazing high without the paranoia. :D

one time i was completely stoned and had to walk home i was so paranoid and it kills the mood. i kept thinking i could get run over or get stopped by the cops. on top of that i thought i was gonna have a stroke.

just tell yourself its a plant, it grows naturally, no one has ever died from smoking cannabis.

damn that happens to me too....the thing is i used to be a Major stoner...then i got on probation for about 8 months and didnt smoke at all...now my buddies all think im a pussy because when i smoke i freak out and shit... it makes me almost not wanna smoke.. but i still really want to..

ive had the feeling of a rapis heartbeat whilst im stoned.. but nower days i smoke alot more and i just get lazy and shit......... ive also had a strange feeling , my heartbeat got really, i mean really slow. it was so slow it was hard to move i had to fall asleep where i was, lucky i woke up i suppose but nvm im still here
