there is a street light in my back yard that was installed by previous owners,my questions are, all street lights same wattage? i presently have a 250 hps from insidesun,if this light happens to be of bigger wattage what do you recommend i do? i want to take the ballast and bulb out of the 250 hps and replace it with the street lights ballast and bulb.and if it is not of a higher wattage than will it benefit me to add it with the 250 hps,and is there a tutorial to convert the street light over to look like the 250 i got from inside sun thanks in advance

There is a really good chance that is a HPS light. Most of them are 1000w lights and they are the very first light I used for my first indoor grow many years ago. You do need to take the light apart and install a good hood with a glass sheld and air blowing through to remove the heat the bulb will make.

I don't know if you can afford one buy you should look at cool tubs. You would need to add the second light bulb socket but it's not that hard. They are 20" long so it will fit one light bulb at each end. They should not touching each other and still have room in between. You will need a good blower to move the air through the tub but that is you very best way to go. imo.
You can get them from eBay or from http://www.insidesun.com/index.php?action=item&id=256&prevaction=category&previd=3&prevstart=0
You can make your own too with a Bake-A-Round from eBay. They are only 4" round but that fits HPS lights. A few 4" vent parts and some foil tape is all you need.

Jimmie,
Adding that HPS to your grow certainly wont hurt.
But if you really wanna do some good...add a 250W MH to the flower chamber.
It throws out a lot of UV rays which attempts to damage the plants, but the MJ plant responds by producing more resin.
More resin = More Trichs
More trichs = More potential for THC

Oh BTW...
I just did a close up of your light set up...
My advice?
Shitcan it bro.
Looks like a fire waiting to happen.
I am sure its safe, but you cant afford a mistake with these bulbs and ballasts.
At least think about it before running it and going to sleep.
Good Luck.

I mostly agree. Electrically, it looks correct, but it needs to be properly mounted in a UL-approved metal electrical enclosure, properly grounded and securely mounted. I'd also like to see it GFCI protected and independently fused, to truly bring it up to NEC. I cringe at some of the electrical setups I imagine exist in growrooms all over the US.
