View Full Version : The Ugly Side of Religion

The people of Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas have done it again, and again Iā??m speechless and angry as hell. These are the same people who believe that homosexuals are the sole reason for the September 11 terrorist attacks. They are the same people who go to gay funerals (e.g. Matthew Shepard) and gay pride events with signs like; ā??God Hates Fagsā? and ā??Fags go to Hellā?. This time they went to the funeral of Staff Sgt. Christopher Piper, a Special Forces soldier who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. They came with new and improved signs like; ā??Thank God For IEDsā?, ā??Fag Soldier In Hellā? and ā??Fag Body Bag.ā?

I donā??t believe most Republicans feel the same way. If these images would get out to the American people and they saw what the far right has to offer, they would say no thank you. I hope the moderate republicans would see what has happened to their party and leave it.

Sick fucking bastards. Extremism isnt freedom. Not everybody needs their "salvation". What would be the difference if islamic nations ruled the world and they came to america wanting to give us the same freedom?

"Allah hates christians". i dont see any difference at all besides the name.

What's the difference between these guys and the Klan or the Nazi's? Not much. Can you imagine what would happen if a bunch of KKK were to protest at a funeral for Black soldier with signs that said that read "God Hates Niggers"? All hell would break loose. Yet people tolerate these sick fucks. Whether their hatred is directed at Jews, Blacks, or Gays its all the same.

It's not often that I'm rendered speechless over something that happens in America.

This did it.

And it obviously silenced the conservative voices in the media who are usually so quick to denounce a non-religious group's protests of the war, the increased mingling between church and state or anything else for that matter. I guess to Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity and Scarborough this is fine and dandy because these fucks believe in God.

That is truly fucked up, and these people are supposed to be religious? I wonder if they realize how evil they make their church look when they pull that shit, or are they really so delusional that they believe what they are doing serves to help humankind in any way?

Sometimes it seems like there is no limit to a human being's capacity for hateful and destructive behaviour.

This doesn't prove anything about religion, only human nature.

lol. no i meant theyre figurative.

jihadists are a problem. im not some hippy wholl try to tell you otherwise. but we're becoming a bigger problem hence the compromise bush is making to "pull out". dont worry the permanent base theyre building there wont be affected...

i just think that if bush wants to pull out after begging everyone to "stay the course" he'd better be prepared to answer just what the fuck happened.

ok.

we arent going anywhere for 30 or 40 years.we will pull out the large numbers of troops but we will always have a base of operations there.what a perfect strategic location.

im not contending that. im just tired of us being lied to. you want iraqi oil? then tell us what its for...dont besmirch the names of soldiers bravely dying so you can hide out and rape a country at your leisure.

a base in iraq in the first place would have been a way better idea. the un wouldve been behind it and we couldve even had less american troops in the crossfire.

the"war for oil" is a catch phrase for young people and people who dont understand what is going on in the world.makes things easier for them to comprehend if you will.a great marketing idea i will admit.

ironically if it had been called the war for oil we'd at least be honest about imperialism and colonisation
