There are plenty of banners on here already LOL!

Most folks seeking to post banners in their sig would likely do so to advertise something - some sites sell advertising in sigs ... we're not going to do that here, since that would likely result in turbo posting and other nonsense.

Sometiems when i'm searching for something on the internet, I find forums and message boards relating to what I was searching for, so I take a look at them - I never join them, though, because they all seem too cluttered and hard to navigate. One of the reasons I like this site is because there is no 'reward' system for posting a certain number of times, no 'status' system (where you status progress dependant on how many posts you have), and there are no big, huge, clumsy, stupid banners in people's signatures. (I'm not saying yours would be big, huge, clumsy or stupid, Lily, but there would be some ;))

years ago when hbc dot com (emery's 1st site) was around there were message boards similar to this (but much more crude) that allowed html code to be posted along with standard text. they'd bury these in pics and banners and this would allow the more net-savy and hackers access to post things like counters which enabled them to track people and their identities. other codes were used to disrupt the content and make things miserable for everyone else in general...
i know of no sites that allow it, the major ones anyway, and net life has been much more peaceful since it's been banned.

Even worse, those same boards allowed embedded javascript to run, potentially allowing hackers to access your computer or causing other mayhem, including stealing cookies. Thank goodness message board developers are smarter now.

I've got two hotmail address things.. Fuck knows why but I made a new one to give to people (like on this forum and stuff), coz my other one's is basically my full name, and fucked if I want everyone knowing my name, especially when they can find out where I live just by dsearching these forums.. shit, if somebody tried hard enough they could almost find the street I live on..
