I just finished reading the article "Law Makers Aim For Zero Tolerance Of Pot Smokers" and I'm pissed. They want to make driving stoned a 0 tolerance offence...meaning you're screwed if you get caught driving stoned...excuse me what??? I drive stoned everyday and have been for the last 7 years and I've never gotten into an accident or even gotten pulled over when I was stoned...granted I totaled my first car just 5 days after getting it...but I was stone cold sober...I was just being really stupid at that moment. :o
The cops will have the right to haul you in take a blood test, if they suspect anything, and charge you with a DUID if you have any THC(or any other drug) in you blood no matter how long ago(days, weeks) it was that you got high. I think that's bullshit it's a violation of our privacy in my eyes.
The law makers are aiming this bill specifically at us pot smokers not at the rest of the drug users in America.
One bill introduced again encourages states to enhance their drug-driving laws by 2006 or lose 1 to 50 percent of federal highway funds allocated from 2007 through 2013. This bill also calls for mandatory minimums for those convicted. States, being threatened with loss of highway funding, will pass these bills and cops, especially the a**holes in my area, will jump at the chance to pull over ppl who are just minding their own business, but who the cops know or suspect that smoke pot. Its just a way to keep track of all the pot heads in the area and it's all a bunch of bullshit!!!
Legalize not penalize

Thanks for lettin me bitch :D

That is complete bullshit. So you are saying that if you are tested and you had smoked weeks ago and not since then they can still bust your ass?

What if you were to have just returned from a vacation,in lets say,Amsterdam, and while you were there, you smoked the fine herb, becuz you can,and then once you are back state side, they pull you over, test you,and bust you for having it in your system, does this mean that once you've smoked it legally, you have to not drive?,till it's completely out of your system?,I wonder how they'd handle that legal sticky?,hmmmm. Wouldn't this also apply to job interview testing?,how can they not give you a job,you tested dirty, only becuz here they say it's illegal, but when you did smoke it,it wasn't,so you don't get the job?hhmmmmm?. Has this ever happened?

i just read that article in full. i am quite pissed at the whole situation. i cant understand how they can bust you if it is in your system from the past and not presently in your system. driving under the influence of alcohol in my personal opinion is 10 x worse than driving high. it just sucks that one of the least harmful drugs stays in your system the longest. the law making such a big deal on pot makes you want to do harder things to get high just so it wont be in your system as long.

WTF! I realize the government needed money But not that bad. You know if they just legalized it the taxes alone would get USA out of debt. And everyone would be happy sigh***********

you know how the goverment could make money? legalize the shit, tax it, and release all the non-violent offenders and save us tax payers BILLIONS. personally i drive better high, i acctually obey speed limits and pay more attention to what i'm doing, maybe it's the paranoia thing.

IF it ever does take effect it will never fly...the 1st one they bust who's got the bucks to defend from the insanity will get it overturned in supreme court, either state or fed. it was already tried here in nevada when the powers that be found medical mj forced upon them (by the will of the people of nevada) and they tried everything they could think of to disrupt the new law and our lives. now evidence of recent use or evidence of unsafe driving is needed before dui can be charged...then they have to prove amounts in the system at actual time of the stop. it's still possible to get a dui charge but much harder for LEO to get mj on the ticket. they're usually pled down to unsafe driving at worst or whatever the minor traffic infraction that brought on the stop (they can not stop you on suspicion alone).

there have been govt studies done in great britain and australia that showed stoned (mj) drivers are actually safer than straight drivers and no comparison to drunk drivers...they figured we're aware we're unstraight thus consciously drive with more caution...probably right on there but i'd also add we're also more aware of our surroundings. these studies were posted at emery's site years ago but should still be able to be searched out.
