I separated my males from an indoor grow and stuck them in an old greenhouse that actually gets marginal light. I kept them watered, but pretty much forgot about them through what is now the 25th day of 12/12. It's my first indoor grow and have totally concentrated on the females (and psyched that I just bought a 60-100x microscope).
Today, the boys all jizzed over themselves and I figured I should ask the best way to harvest these bag seed males. I'm not looking to do the hash thing, just a big bag of crappy weed to stick away for tight times. Weed I'd only smoke when even the vodka bottles are empty.
Would you pull them out by the roots and hang them? Or cut them at the base? Most importantly, what's a tipoff for peak THC (okay, don't give me too much shit about wanting to smoke 'em :o )---the cloudy trichs version for males?

Tipoff peak for THC? Male plants produce very little THC. There are no trichs on them at all, nothing but pollen, that contains no THC. I've tried making hash with just a male plant and I got about this>>( )<<much THC. Smoking it will give you nothing more than a headache. You'd have to smoke about 5 gaggers to yourself to catch a low buzz.

Thanks for taking the time to not answer my question. I've been getting high for about 30 years and know what smoking male plants is like. I know they don't bud, have flowers, are weak in THC, no trichs, etc...
I wasn't looking for someone to tell me NOT to smoke it. I was looking for a tip on when to harvest male plants.

Before they flower. Cannabis pollen can travel between 5-15 miles. So you want to pull before then unless you're harvesting pollen to seeed a bud. If you're pulling air from the outside you may accidentally pollenate your plants -- then you'll just have lots of seeds to smoke.

The males are sealed in a greenhouse; the females are in an inner room inside my house, with no outside air exchange. Accidental pollination isn't my issue, just trying to find some info on minimal use for the males.

SHit I have smoked male plants before and i tell you what...it beats smoking shitty green females who look nice but suck ass on the stone department.
Once the males have released their pollen, their primary function is now complete.
The plants can be picked at anytime now.
They have served their purpose and will not chemically develope any stonger.
Thats why the male plants die before the females.
Just like in fucking people :(

Thanks much, Harddon! Exactly what I needed to know. BTW, according to growing-marijuana.org, the relative potency in decending order is:
"Female flowering clusters. In practice you don't separate hundreds of tiny bracts to make a joint. The whole flowering mass (seeds removed), along with small accompanying leaves, forms the material.
Male flower clusters. These vary more in relative potency depending on the strain (see "Potency by Sex," below).
Growing shoots. Before the plants flower, the vegetative shoots (tips) of the main stem and branches are the most potent plant parts.
Leaves (a) that accompany flowers (small); (b) along branches (medium);(c) along main stem (large).
Generally, the smaller the leaf is, the more potent it can be.
Petioles (leaf stalks). Same order as leaves.
Stems. Same order as leaves. The smaller the stem (twig), the higher the possible concentration of cannabinoids. Stems over 1/16" in diameter contain only traces of cannabinoids and are not worth smoking. The small stems that bear the flowers can be quite potent.
Seeds and Roots. Contain only traces (less then .01 percent) and are not worth smoking or extracting."
My next crop's filthiest bitch will be named Harddona.
Oh, and here's my first closet grown main kola at 25 days (hey, it's my cherry, so I'm proud just to get her this far):

25 days total or 25 days flower?

60 days veg, now 26 days 12/12. She went through just about every mistake a newbie makes, but survived and is full of (small) bud spots and the main kola is about 4 inches tall. Six 100w CFL's, but a 250w HPS is on order for the next grow.
And the next grow will be bent.
