you can always boil them but it stinks up your house and fades the colors on your piece. i also hurd it makes them weaker. is there any other way to clean it and still keep the resin???

See, I don't understand what the heck people are talking about when it comes to the dangers of boiling glass pieces. I'm not getting hostile or anything, it's just that we've had my pipe since...March 3rd, 2004. Since then, I've boiled that thing...countless times. The blue and red swirls are still just as vibrant as they were the day I bought it, and it still hits great! I've also dropped this thing onto tile floor twice, into the bathtub (without water) once, and then dropped it from 7 or 8 feet onto a somewhat carpeted area. The thing hasn't even cracked.

Anyway, the only thing I can think of that might be bad that comes from boiling is, is that now the hole where the smoke FIRST comes through (then it travels through the chamber and into your mouth) has gotten bigger since the resin is no longer there. So, now I have to wait until it's resinated enough to where the hole is smaller. Other than that, I'd say that boiling is fine. It gets almost all of the resin out, and the resin that's left...well...let your pipe dry out or whatever and you can get the little remains that are left because it'll be loose now.

I've boiled my pipe thinking that I won't get anything from it, but come out with a bowl. Anyway, I've tried soaking in rubbing alcohol and the like, but I don't like how I have to do it overnight. With boiling, just boil it for about 5-10 minutes (I put it on HIGH heat, but my bowl is exceptionally strong, I guess [?]) then, take two coffee filters and put them into a coffee filter holder. Pour the water a bit at a time until there is a little bit of water left, then pour it all really fast. You'll have a shitton of resin.
After that, remove the filters, fold them together once (like if you had your hands on the front and back of a book and you were closing it). Then, take a hair dryer and dry off the filters. Done. Total process takes, maybe, 15 minutes and you get fucked.

But...that's just me. ^_^

Only way I know of to clean and keep the resin is to bust out with the paper clips and scrape away. Other than that, I concur with rubbing alchohol and salt. works like a charm!
