Dreaming?

hello again, i just smoked some of the bud i've grown in my first grow and i am somehow dreaming with my eyes open......i am thinking of setting up a grow room (not now but within 6-8 months from now).....i want to devote an entire room for flowering......this means that i'll be needing at least 3000-4000 watts of hps.....however it is very illegal to grow cannabis over here and thus if i ever try to hook up 3-4 thousand hps lighting units i will get caught in action mainly due to the high power consumption (not that it would ever work given the total domestic power output that i have available for usage cannot exceed more than 3.3 kw/h)......so i came into thinking of buying a generator that can provide me with all the power that i need.....what else would i need to buy? i mean , obviously i would need a tank big enough to hold around 150 gallons of petrol/gasoline/benzine etc straight connected to the tank of the generator to provide fuel at all times......however this is ok for continuous usage aka 24/0 during vegetation......with flowering is the problem....how can i setup a system that can switch the generator on and off for the needs of the plants during flowering?

By using the same system as power back up generators. They work when the power is cut they start up and run. Same idea just change a few things and you use a timer to start up the generator then use a second timer to start your lights a few minuets after the generator is up and running and turn off once the lights are out.

Digital ballast do not use as much electricity as the current ones do. You may want to look into those. I think 600w is the largest they offer now but they are working on a 1000w version. I know the owner of Advanced is working on one transformer to power up 4000w of lights too and that will cut all out energy cost. I'm not sure if they are on the market yet but they should be soon.

Zandor, i would like to thank you man for your help and advice i get each time i have a question.....i've read the answer you posted and to be honest i imagined the setup like you suggested, then again i thought about it again and again...with plans like this i will become a drug baron or lord.....lol....nahhhh, i think i found out what is the max i will propably do....you see i want to grow BIG, just for one time, produce one BIG yield and stop there....hopefully i will stop growing indoors within two grows....now i have one NFT board measuring 4x3 ft.....in my dream grow i will have 3 boards in total....a sea of green in an area of 36sqft.....hopefully like this i will be able to make my dream crop....thanx again for the info and the advice.....ahhh as for the digital ballasts, you're brilliant man, i had no idea that these things exist....ok another question.....is it possible to connect many lights to one transformer?

Yes the owner of advanced nutrients is working with another company in Canada to make one ballast that would run 4 HPS lights. But thatâ??s nothing new there are warehouses running 3-phase transformers running 50 lights at a time. My area if engineering is more communication and broadband but I know whom to call. Pacific Transformers makes custom application transformers still I believe. It may be worth a phone call. I would think digital versions are many years away.
