Hi Guys,
Spur of the moment last night, got up to Tweeter Center in Mass for Santana / LosLoneyBoys concert. Got tix at box-office at showtime, and for some reason, 2 tix 20th row center was available. Nice. Show was excellent, Santana backed up by 10 piece percussion / horn / keyboard / guitars / vocalist. A nice mix of classics (Evil Ways, Black Magic Woman, Smooth, Maria Maria, Oye Como Va), covers (from John Coltrane and John Lee Hooker), and latin stuff.
LosLonelyBoys provided some nice Texas blues and played as warm-up as well as a few songs with Santana.
I just love summer concerts, especially in small/medium sized outdoor venues. For whatever reason, I am not turned on by large stadium superstar concerts.

The cool thing about classic rock concerts is that you do see both parents and kids attending. KISS in 1978 must have rocked.

yes its one my best memories
i was right up to the stage and was being squished by a big boobed chick
gene simmons was spitting ect, people would grab it,NO SHIT,
i was 14 and more or less on my own was with two older brothers who got lost in crowd ,i met some people who liked the weed i brought so much they was buying me beer, hell i walked up to counter and got beer twice dropped the money and took a cup.,was so crowded it wasnt like they could id me
i so remember when they played "shout it out loud"
was the best moment, Ace had us all mesmerized with his opening
can still hear it in my head
KISS is the ultimate rock band(minus the disco track )i love thier sound.

Hello,
This will be my lady and I's third year in a row of catching Dave.
We have also cought Counting Crows, Live, Aerosmith, Fuel, Government Mule, Bob Dylan (2002), Robby Krieger (guitarist for the Doors), The Wailers, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, George Clinton And the P-Funk All Stars, the list goes on...
I have been hitting shows now for six years. My lady bought tickets for me and her both to see Robby Krieger, we split a quarter of mushrooms before the show.
I was worried that we were going to stand out, that is until we go inside for the show. We were instantly lost in a crowd of like minded people who came to dance to them music of the Doors.
That show pretty much got us hooked on going out and seeing as many as we can.
Take care
Peace

Dave Matthews was here last night. The arena is on a mountain along with other events. There was also a baseball game and a golf tournament going on at the same time as the start of the concert. Traffic was impossible....it was on the news. Talk about piss poor planning.
I'm going to a concert in July with my bestfriend. We see stupid hair bands every summer....I'm not even sure who I am seeing but I know I'll remember all of the words. We mostly go to get away for a girls' night out, dress slutty, drink too much, and see how much we can possibly get away with without getting arrested.

Anybody remember April Wine? They played at a local club last week and they were very old, and very bad. They almost lost the drummer to a heart attack that night. They really need to pull the plug and leave april wine a good memory of growing up, and not ruin it by embarassing themselves on stage.
i guess some things are harder to give up,
friend of mine went to see BTO,(bachman turner overdrive) few yrs back,we grew up on bands like that,he said about the same thing about them ,they tried like hell but just couldnt get it together siad he stayed cause he felt sorry for them and didnt want to just leave since wasnt that big of event to begin with, and he had front row seat,
something you could not of got in the 70s,and now he had one even if it was to a "burnt out show" is what he called it,
i dont recall that band though april wine, but then i kinda burnt out too,
maybe ill take my chances with limewire for a while and go download some

Saw Meat Loaf perform last night at BOA Pavillion in Boston. This is the first time I've seen him live, but I've always wanted to as he was a real maniac in the 80's. He's older (and calmer) now, although was very theatrical (as expected) and I was solidly rocked by the band. Weather was perfect (outdoor venue).
He performed all of the classics,as well as some new ones from an upcoming CD : Bat Out Of Hell 3.
Any Meat Loaf Lovers out there ???

I would really like to see ELO??.you know ??evil woman? and such.
I don??t even know if they are all still alive or play together anymore.
NWM- my little girl (she??s 4) loves Ronnie Milsap
We always sing in the car together, the other day ??stranger in my house? came on the radio an of course I freaked out cause I never hear it anymore. She was digging it?and getting into it and singing ??THERES A STRANGER IN MY HOUSE? at the top of her little lungs. Then after the song was over she said ??mama, they should have locked the door.?
Of course I agreed?. :)

OMG, taking kids to concerts is so much fun (albeit expensive). I've seen the Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, Christina Aguilera, just to name a few.

I'll continue to keep this concert thread alive into the fall .... I just bought tickets to Bruce Springsteen, in Providence in October. I've never seen "The Boss" live, so this will be special.

A really powerful show last night, as this was Springsteen : Solo and Acoustic. The audience was given instructions to keep quiet and seated. No flash, no cell phones, no intermissions, no food/beer sales once the concert started.
Bruce played for 2.5 hours, using various instruments: guitar, harmonica, piano, harp and ukulele. The audience remained relatively quiet, as instructed, which allowed the volume to be turned way down on certain parts of songs. He also used a special microphone to create distortion in a couple of songs, kind of like the sound from a 1940's phonograph.
The setlist was a good part from his latest CD "Devils and Dust", but plenty of others spanning the last 30 years. He pretty much stuck to the Steinbeck-type songs about the lives of people living in tough times, and the importance of family and faith. Songs that are both sad and inspiring.
This was not an E-Street band concert. No Born to Run, nor Born in the USA. No fist-pumping anthems. The sound and feel was something like that of Bob Dylan or Tom Waits. Plenty of between-song stories about his youth and inspiration, gave the feel of VH1 Storytellers.
Check this show out if he comes to your town.
