wow...
i am curious as to what is going on around here and if the site is changing..up until recently, this was a fun and cool place and the users of this site pretty well were left to hang out on here and post and bitch and moan and be whoever we are, as long as we arent threatening one another..i see lately this is highly curtailed and censorship is beginning to come to mind..
i am disappointed in how things are changing around here and am curious to see what this new era of cannabis.com has to offer down the line and if it will ever be the same again..
ho hum....
ick.. :p

No one is saying you can't bitch and moan about thewooman's avatar, if that's what floats your boat. If we were, then that thread would have been closed. It isn't. So, what exactly are you complaining about?
Incidentally, I see only one locked or deleted thread on the first page of the Lounge, so your definition of "highly curtailed" must be vastly different than mine. You just notice things more because I prefer to close threads instead of deleting them, so you all can see what's going on for yourselves. You can't see threads that are deleted, and most people never even notice they are gone. That's the only difference around here. The level of administrative activity hasn't changed much, if at all.
Have some cheese?

Success brings evolution.
Evolution brings change.
Change is always a topic of debate.

The site is fine, members always disagree at certain intervals. I've only been here for 15 months and I've seen it happen every 2 or 3 months. Some ppl have been around for years, so I am sure they have seen it a lot more than me.
Locking threads instead of deleting lets ppl look back at them and figure out why they've been locked. Just deleting them doesn't solve anything, ppl cannot learn lessons about what will and won't be tolerated if they don't have anything to look back on. Sort of a way to learn from others mistakes. Some ppl say, "If a thread is locked, the person being flamed cannot respond." Exactly the point. The idea is to stop the flaming, not start a new thread after the old one gets locked. This is a last resort for a mod, it's what they do when ppl are acting too immature to stop the nonsense on their own.
The bitching will stop....eventually. And members who are a constant problem will be banned permanently, not just temporarilly, and the sun will rise again tomorrow.

whatever beebs..i mean really...
there were 4 locked threads, not one, yesterday..this is not something that ever happens here, not since i have been around..
the issue to me was how different things are being done and the way things are changing..the admin of this site was always so big on letting us say what we wanted and things like this not going on, just like with the the age restrictions..i can have my opinion and it is not personal..all i know is this went from a fun and funny site to something very serious and with all these rules and shit..also, why are you the only mod that does this? why do the other ones leave things alone?
it isnt cool for a mod to flame ppl either on a thread..at least to me..
so, this being said, i have been here awhile now and i am sad to go, but this is ridiculous..ya got mods acting like this is a serious job and not fun on the internet and cant take any kind of opinion that isnt theirs, and other mods who give your personal info out to other users here and noone handles it..i dont get it..i am saddened that the site has become this and incredibly surprised it is being allowed..
and again, 4 locks on one page, not 1..it isnt only a way to show ppl why they are closed but maybe a way for others to show their authority cause they need to feel important..i dont know..
its been fun guys..

Hey, why can't we just, you know, accept the board for what it is, instead of always wanting it to live in the past, man. The board's a person too.

Just my two cents: This is only adding to the drama.

whatever beebs..i mean really...
And so the drama begins...
there were 4 locked threads, not one, yesterday..this is not something that ever happens here, not since i have been around..
This is because the other mods prefer to delete threads rather than lock them, as I do. There really aren't any more threads being locked or deleted now, it's just that more of them are being locked so you can see them. Most of you never even noticed a thread had been deleted unless you had a stake in it. That's the difference you've been seeing. This is the third time I've explained that to you
the issue to me was how different things are being done and the way things are changing..the admin of this site was always so big on letting us say what we wanted and things like this not going on, just like with the the age restrictions..
There are no age restrictions here, and I don't recall anyone saying we wouldn't listen to or didn't want your suggestions. There's a whole forum for them, and look - here we are. I'm all for improvements and positive change. Bring it on.
i can have my opinion and it is not personal..all i know is this went from a fun and funny site to something very serious and with all these rules and shit..also, why are you the only mod that does this? why do the other ones leave things alone?
Everyone's got their own modding style. Again, a lot of what the previous mods did was completely transparent to you all. I prefer to be more above board. I'm not saying one way is better than the other, but this is my way. I'm sorry you don't like it.
it isnt cool for a mod to flame ppl either on a thread..at least to me..
Well, for one thing I did not flame any specific person. And nor were my comments particularly mean-spirited or derogatory.
so, this being said, i have been here awhile now and i am sad to go, but this is ridiculous..ya got mods acting like this is a serious job and not fun on the internet and cant take any kind of opinion that isnt theirs, and other mods who give your personal info out to other users here and noone handles it..
Ok, so let me get this straight, cause this is the part I really have trouble with. So, you want mods that don't take this job seriously. Right? We're not suppose to act like this is a serious job. This is what you said, yes? Ok, so then, you go on to complain that nobody did anything when you had problems with one of the staff giving out personal information. So, what's the problem? According to you, the staff did not take their jobs seriously and did nothing about your complaint. You should be happy, right?
Yes, the above was highly sarcastic. But it was to make a point. You can't please everyone. I don't even try. I do this job as best as I can, and yes, I do take it somewhat seriously. I don't know why you think that's a bad thing. You're complaining about a few locked threads, when there's thousands that aren't locked. If that's not looking to complain about something, I don't know what is
i dont get it..i am saddened that the site has become this and incredibly surprised it is being allowed..
Drama much?
and again, 4 locks on one page, not 1..it isnt only a way to show ppl why they are closed but maybe a way for others to show their authority cause they need to feel important..i dont know..
Yeah, that must be it.

I'm with OreO. When I came here, this place was awesome. People were a lot more easy going, laid back, accepting. Nowadays, we have a whole bunch of people that just like to bash others and say crap.
I won't lie, though...I seriously think it's because of all these new people that come in and think they own the place. I'm not going to say that NEWBIES R T3H STUPID! or anything like that. It's just that...for some reason...all these new people coming in thinking they know everything.
Someone was ragging on EverdayJunglist because he said it's stupid to snort Vicodin. The guy just got pissed and started calling him names.
A lot of the people that have been here more than 4 months pick up on the common courtesy of it all. They learn to just accept people's opinions and write their opinions as well. No bashing, no yelling and screaming, no people trying to start arguments for the sake of it.
We all just need to calm down, I think..... :)

I've heard alot about that infamous "morphine thread" that was deleted. What was so bad about it?
del...

it was promoting the use of it instead of a rational discussion, which can be had eslewhere much easier and with much better info. we can not/will not condone the use of opiates, especially with so much youth onsite. there has to be a line drawn somewhere and talking about how cool it is doing morphine is well over it...this is cannabis dot com after all and the subject of our name draws enough outside attention.
and as far as this place's current status...it's all part of the cycle.

OH ICKY i HeArT Cha!
I think the moderators are doing a difficult job, and doing it well. It's not their fault that members frequently write inapropriate, sometimes insulting posts, and submit information that could be considered harmful to some. They must walk a line between between imposing supression and allowing complete chaos. Given the diversity of the membership here, it could be a lot worse.
I also think locking is better than deleting, for the members to be permitted to see what was being said.
I wish some members here were capable of self restraint; case in point the thread in which Mand introduced herself. It must have made a bad impression on her to try to say hello, only to have the thread veer off into a personal squabble.
These immature "look at me!" posts are distracting and annoying, but as Del has said "School is out".
