Well you get out of your plant what you put into it. A cheap light will give you cheap pot or worse yet no pot. If you are looking for cheaper then try the Sun and grow outdoors.

Properly growing Mj indoors takes a cretin amount of commitment of time and resources to grow anything of quality. Don't waist your time and effort get the correct lighting if you are going to grow indoors. Minimum of 400w HPS with a growlux bulb would work fine for veg and flower cycle. Search eBay for a good deal on a sealed air-cooled light. Save the heat and make sure it's an air-cooled light.

250W lamps work great in a small setup. I don't know why they are often dismissed as inferior; look --

It's all in the math GTC21. light intensity diminishes exponentially fast! A 250w HPS is only good light for about 14" away from the bulb. Yes the plant will grow some buds even 24" away from the bulb but they will not be the same quality as the buds grown directly under the light. So that's why they got the rep they do have. If you grow plants over 24" tall then the yield will diminish exponentially.
