Can you guys tell me if this kit will give me a decent crop. The price seems good and it appears to have it all but I'm not sure about the wattage. It seems too low but then again I really know nothing about growing but I'm willing to learn. Any replys will be greatly appreciated.

Peace

"I stuck this sytem in my closet and pulled over two ounces of gorgeous tomatoes off it in 3 months! EzHydroKit ROCKS!" - L.P., Chicago
That's what one of their customers said. Two ounces of tomatoes in three months. Uh, I think tomatoes weigh more than that even cherry tomatoes. I would keep shopping. Get a MH or HPS light kit and start in dirt. If you have money to spend and really want to do hydro then shop around some more and read as much as you can about hydroponic cultivation.

Hey gronnh20: I'm thinking that "tomatoes" is probably meant to say "bud" but since it's on ebay they're not allowed to reference anything to drugs which is why it says 2 ounces. The person has sold lots of these kits on ebay and has gotten a 99.8% positive feedback and I'm sure that almost all of the people who bought the kits from him are not using them for growing legal plants. I'll try to find more information on the kits.

It's not the kits it's just the method of growing. You can build a system for yourself with a lot of the parts coming from the 99¢ store. For one or two plants and only a few ounces of bud is your goal every 4 months or so then it's fine. The light will work but will you get a pound of bud with it-NO- not even close but will it grow some buds then YES. It's just a method of growing, there are some things you will want to add later on but why not get started now and learn. A good book is a must for any grower; the forums can be so overwhelming and are filled with dribble.

Good luck

Hey jet I figure that was code also, so you are not so new. When I bought my first hydro kit I quickly found out I needed other items. I think if you look through some forums on DWC methods(wade through the muck) you will find you can go to the dollar store and save your self some cash. If you can find these two magazines "Growing Edge" and "Maximum Yield" they are full of hydroponic info. My hydro retailer gives them to me free. I started in hydro in 1992 and there was hardly any info. Really look at buying a quality light system first, then you can at least start growing any method you like. We want everyone to grow.

whatever it was now it's gone.......i am reffering to the grow system in e-bay (some wise guy ended the auction and bought it straight away...my intelligence tells me it's a desperate tomato&herb grower, yeah right...LOL) .....
it looked good&promising for entry level anyway....
you know what? somehow the prices of almost everything is much chaper over in the us.....the 1000hps complete lighting unit with ballast fitted over here costs almost 500 us dollars.....hell sometimes i see offers like this one and i get crazy because i live out here.....anyway....ZANDOR i need your expertise&advice....i was kinda wanted to start a new thread but did not bother....i am anxious a bit about my next grow....going into hydro using nft setup....what i am anxious about is it's efficiency...one more thing is that my first grow was in soil....during the last weeks i flushed after week 6 for two weeks (well did not really flush, just watered with no ferts till harvest)....i have read a report on overgrow about growing Blueberry in hydro....the flowering lasted only six weeks, 42 days....normally i should start flushing using soil, not harvest....is it that the ladies mature even faster when grown with hydro? i mean ok, i know they grow faster than soil during veg but does this apply in hydro as well?
today i received my future ladies as well....two sativa dom and two indicas...i plan to grow two strains at a time in an attempt to have a garden of plants of the same height and size.....i really feel more tempted to grow Crystal&Papaya (mango) first....both indoors...my nft board is fully equipped with pumps timers etc... 12 sqft growing space, complete system...all professional equipment for measurements.....do not have an extractor and carbon filter...will add a good ioniser though....entire room with two windows open at all times....measurements of the room are 80 sqft and height only 8ft..all walls are painted bright white.....for lighting i plan to use 400 watt grolux for vegetation and 800 watt for flowering with the option to add even another 600watt to a total of 1400 watts all in hydro.....i know the more watts i use the better i will get in the end.....however, what should i expect total yield out of 800 watts of grolux in hydro with constant levels of co2 thought the entire grow? will i get 3 pounds of bud?
other than that....one more thing.....if i decide to do a vegetation time long, like two months, will i be able to get around 4-5 pounds out of 12sqft of growing base (of course i will have to add more lights but i came up to this lighting unit the other day....it is like a common bulb but it is an hps light in reality....55 watts complete with cables and stuff.....these lights can grow up to a plant...however i believe that you can place them them wherever you need them....the total safe wattage of lights i will be able to use in this project will be 1400 watts max for growing....hope everyone's good after reading all this....take care people :)

Do you have a diagram of your room and setup? You are right you need more light but it's hard to tell with out the diagram. You said 80 Sqft that's about 8x10 and in one of my rooms 7x7x7 I run as much as 8000w HPS to grow pounds of buds. You need to light the bottoms and all sides to increase the yield over the pound mark pr-plant. The CO² is a must and so is proper humidity control. What are you using to control the PPM of the CO²?

There are several waysâ?? to get pounds of buds one is by growing trees and that means less plants. The other is by growing more plants in the same area, growing them short and only yielding an ounce or 2 on each one. NFT will work for this type of grow because you only use clones and veg them for about 3 weeks then flower like normal. You need a good mother or two to make all the clones from. NFT will not work for growing trees or any really large plants. NFT is good for short cycle small plants.

Yes Hydro will grow that fast if you let it. Ebb & flow is different and so is using Rockwool in hydro. I think everyone around here know I am not a fan of Rockwool; to me it's just one step above dirt farming.

Sativa need a long flower time and will grow up to 12' or more before they finish. Sativa is not really for indoor growing unless you have the ceiling height and plenty of lights.

Zandor is correct; growing methods, not kits, grow great tomatoes...Kit looks great would make getting started easier, (you can google ezhydrokit???)but I waded through muck and built my own bubblers/DWC and they ROCK...Walmart dual air pumps and 4"
stones run $12-13 for BOTH--one 5 gallon bucket with lid $5...black 1/4" hose from home depot....250-400 MH or HPS light from ebay $50-200 (I've got both)...5' netpots $1...sheet 1" rockwool $10, small oscillating fan $10, and last ,but not least3 part advanced nutrients package + PH DOWN $40 and you are ready to grow my friend!!! Now this is a bare minimum indoor setup...The key to success IMHO is to read, read, read here and overgow.com daily at first and you will be able to get a good idea of do's and don't's as well as advice for additives, such as epsom salts and H2o2...JUST REMEMBER-DO NOT OVER FERTILIZE, watch your PH and you should be happy with this type of setup....latewood

Thanx for the info guys. I think that I'll just start off by buying a good light and grow in soil first just to get a feel for the whole growing experience and move on to hydro on a later date. I just emailed "FunkyMonkey" about the 400w mh that he's selling in the Advertizers and Products forum, I'll see what he wants for 1 and hopefully I'll snag one if the price is good.

This may sound like a stupid question but does anyone know what would happen to a marijuana plant if you just treated it like an ordinary house plant? Say one of the plants that I plant to grow turns out to be male and I just took it out from under the light and put it by my kitchen window.

Unless you are planning on harvesting the pollen and making a Polly-hybrid cross it would be a waist of time and someone may see what you are growing.

Zandor, thanx man for the info&advice.....what i plan to do is not to use the entire room space....i could not possibly do such a thing without any proper ventilation......80 sqft is the entire space but in no way i am going to fill that space with plants.....with the window open at all times the cops would pay me a visit during the vegetation stage....for this grow i will isolate 12sqft of space with reflective material on a curtain....more or less this is the exact size of the NFT system with the tank and the tray.....this is going to be my grow space....with 800watts during flowering i will have a ratio of 66,6666667 (lol)watts/sqft...optimal i guess....and the good thing is that these 800 watts come from 2x400 HPS systems, which means that one will be from above while the other can be positined anywhere side/bottom etc.....as for the sativas, i know they get tall, but, can the rockwool cube support such height and subsequently weight? i do not have a problem with headroom....max ~ 12ft.
Finally, no co2 enrichment for the grow room will be used....the window will be open at all times providing fresh air to the plants that will be circulated with the use of fans....
gotta go now....take care people...time for a good joint with pure bud from grow#1...hehehe:)
