Hi everyone, I got these 8 seedlings at aprx 2 inches tall on the 15th of may. I had them in a small area in the basement with a nice daylight type fluorescent light and foil reflector paper. I watered with miracle grow for 2 weeks and 3 plants died, the rest barely grew at all. I was getting frustrated since the plants were not doing well.

I decided, since I live in a place where the could easily go un-noticed for the entire summer, to put them outside. Would you believe that they quadrupled their size in just 2 weeks outside!

This is the first time I am growing and I would like to know if I should cut off any of the tips to make the plant bushier? I also have been watering with the miracle grow more than I should, the package says once a month. I've done it every other watering. Can this be toxic to me when I smoke it?

Also I took a small branch off of one plant and have replanted it with rooting hormone, has anyone done this, will I still get a female plant? All comments welcome, thanks,
Laurie

Seems like you have a hard time following instructions or you did not research before you started growing?

they look fine but if you add the picture of 3 dead.... :(

At the 4th node you can pinch the growth, this will help keep shorter and bush out.

Chill on the MG for sometime and then follow the directions

Sounds like you've been over doing it with the fertilizer. When it comes to fertilizer less is more, go real easy with it. I have plants which are over 4 months old and I've only fertilized them twice with 1/2 - 3/4 strength Miracle Gro. The plants in the pics look excellent but I see the pots have only been filled like half full, so in a couple of weeks take the plants out of the pots (with rootball intact), put some soil in the bottom of the pots and then repot the plants so the top of the rootball is almost level with the top of the pot. This will give the roots some extra room to grow so the plants will grow bigger. And go easy with the fertilizer! give them 1/2 strength every 2 to 3 weeks, no more.

Okay , I know I have a hard time following directions that's just because I think I know everything! Really thought, I want to try to grow as natural as possible and that (to me) means just trial and error with everything I do. When the plants started dying I got a little worried. The clippings that died were only 12$ (canadian) lost, no biggie. But I don't want anymore to die, that's for sure!

When I moved them outdoors and replanted them I was truly amazed at how well they did. So I came to the group so I could follow all of your experienced growers directions. I appreciate all of the advice and directions, i'll try not to be so headstrong from now on! Learn not Lead!

Thank you two for the advice and the web sites with a lot of directions on lighting and soil prep. GTC, I'm certainly going to use your potting and fert info, thanks very much.

miracle grow is only to be used every 2 weeks not every day for 2 weeks
