High!

I'm Doug Greene, a senior adviser to Cures not Wars (http://www.cures-not-wars.org) . We're based in New York City, and for the past 32 years or so, on the first Saturday of May, we've had a march and parade for drug policy reform. Since 1999, we've turned it into an international event, with over 150 cities (http://www.cures-not-wars.org/cities.htm) participating this year.

One sad thing I've noticed is that the stereotypes of marijuana users are too often true. When it comes to defending themselves against propaganda (http://www.theantidrug.com/) and the unjust laws and policies (http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/), many pot smokers I've met are totally uninterested in politics.

Please help change that. Spread the word about Saturday to your friends, family and co-workers. Spread it by phone, word of mouth, e-mail, chat. Bring as many people as you can tot he event, and if you can, I'm sure the local organizers need help even more than we do here in New York.

If not us, who? If not now, when? I don't know about you, but I've seen too many busts and deaths to wait anymore for justice.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Doug

Sorry to break it to you, but politics is run by a small group of people whose interests are very different from yours. Your efforts are futile and your time would be better spent battling the roots of the system that keeps those people in power.

I think not. You can read any issue of the Drug War Chronicle (http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/334/index.shtml) from DRCNet (http://www.drcnet.org) and see the successes we're having.

Passivity and resignation are a one way ticket to nowhere. Marijuana users in the USA have been suffering for 67 years! (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/taxact/mjtaxact.htm) Enough is enough.
