Marked bills are generally printed or stamped with a UV-fluorescing invisible ink, for use in tracing thefts of large amounts of currency. If you have a blacklight, you can find them yourself, there's quite a few in circulation.

also a marked bill can be considered by series bills. that means when there is a robbery in a bank, and of course they dont have the chance to mark the bill with ink, they trace the serial numbers, (but thats only possible in new bills)
