my babies are in about their 4th week and some of the lower leaves are turning yellow.....i just applied some fertilizer for the first time so that should take care of the problem....however i was wondering if i should clip off the leaves that are yellow and crispy or should i just let them stay and fall off on their own??? thanks for the help

The most likely reason the leaves are yellowing is because the plants have used up almost all of the availible nutrients in the soil and are begining to show Nitrogen deficincies. Nitrogen is the most important nutrients in good cannabis growth however not the only one. If you want a inexpensive nutrient solution I would tell you to use Peter's Proffesional which can be found in any home improvment store. It must have a NPK ratio of 10-10-10 but no higher than 20-20-20 which can be found on the front or back of the bottle and always remember cannabis can burn easily by using too much so always mix the solution at quarter or half of what the bottle says. In addition try to use only distilled or reverse osmosis water as most tap water is hard and contains unsafe amount of impurities that are bad for plant growth. To your last question do not clip off the dying leaves but let them fall off on their own. Clipping it could cause your plants to go into shock which inhibits growth (Stunting) and will raise the likelyhood of it turning into a male or hemorphidite plant neither of which you want.
Good luck to you and I hope my input helps.

Clipping a dying leave can make a plant change sex or alter the sex?
What are we talking here....1 in 10,000?
If it were any higher, why would anyone risk a prized female by taking clones?
Any idea on the frequency of that scenario on sex change?
Thanks

can't be high. I meen, I butcher mother plants to the point that they have two or three sets of leaves. I don't think there is much hermaphrodication during veg, but once in flower if you cut a lot of foliage and buds early, screw with the lights, or give it bad nutes it has a fair chance of becoming a hermie

I guess everyone ha stheir own method of cultivation. Personally I would never clip any plant that was only 4 weeks from germination. I don't clip mine until in the late stages of vegitation. I just beleive that clipping anything of that isn't completely dead in that stage of life will stunt the plant. And you are correct on the sexual dysfunction of plant stress. The chances are low of it turning male or hermie but I'd rather not take a chance at all.

Ah so we take it you are not a member of the "TOPPING CLUB"
That is indeed a plant friendly grower.

yellowing leaves can be signs of a nutrient burn, so make sure your not doing the opposite of what is needed for your plants. test your ph and nute levels before doing anything

Like trichs, there are millions of cells that make up the leaf.
If it is a 'growing' or 'spreading' problem on the leaf itself, then nutes or lack of can be suspected.
However, if the leaf as a "whole" is showing the same yellowing, then it could be water or age related.
