PLEASE HELP!!

i live in vegas and its hot here right now and my bottom leaves on my plant always die whenever a new set of leaves come in so basically i always have two healthy sets leaves and one set that is dying and/or burning up...does anyone know what the problem is?

if you are growing in pots, they need to be shielded from the sun. put a plank or something in front of them for shade.

i live in vegas (well near there but did live near valley h.s. for 12 years) and it has always grown very well for me. they just need to be watered several times/day during the hottest months (it's not bad now and once/day should be plenty with good drainage...less if ya don't). it's best for them to be put in the ground tho...

also watch your tap water ph. vegas water is higher than normal and if you see large spots on fan leaves constantly, i suggest adjusting it until the plants recover. it's not hard and well worth the extra hassle. there's an excellent store on the SW corner of flamingo and eastern for any and all supplies..."american hydro".

I have a PH level out of the tap at 9.0 and I use 1ml ( per gallon )of bumper down in it or fill a bunch of gallon jugs and let them sit for a couple days. How close are they to your yard sprinklers ?

same as mine up here in alamo! exactly 9.0 here too...and i measured rain water as low as 5.0 this past winter. it's not the norm as it is usually around 6.0...

but i don't mix regularly. too much work and wouldn't fit into the auto-sprinkler system when i'm away so i just acidify the soil a bit. like shoot for a 5-5.5 then let the tap water run for a month before adjusting again. not too scientific, i know but it fits into my K.i.s.s. system better...
