Ok, i don't usually make threads, infact i don't remember if i've even made one before lol. Well, Pink Floyd is my fav. band, and i know this board has some Floyd fans. I'm just sitting here listening to Floyd and was wondering what everyone thought is their best album. I have a feeling most people are going to say Darkside or The Wall because they're the most mainstream albums. However, i know some people will know about true Floyd, old school Floyd, which i think are their best albums. Personally, my fav. album is More, then Obscured by Clouds and then probably Division Bell. Man there's so many and all of them are so damn amazing lol. Anyway, post away if you wish...

My favorite Floyd??? Man, That's a tough question. I guess it's Animals, especially the song Dogs. Dark Side, Wish, and Meddle are pretty close though. More is really great too. There's one song (can't rememer the name) that starts out with a big cymbal roll and then just gets real funky, no singing just instrumental, definitely one of my top favorite Floyd tunes. Oh yeah, the first disc of Umaguma, the old live stuff, is great.

Oh yeah, anyone ever seen the movie Live At Pompei? Old school stuff . '72-'73 Floyd playing at the ruins of Pompei. Smoke a fatty and pop that in the DVD. You won't regret it.

Animals. Those songs are so long (or short) they never get worn out by the radio stations. Remains classic.

[QUOTE=Reefer Rogue]Ok, i don't usually make threads, infact i don't remember if i've even made one before lol. Well, Pink Floyd is my fav. band,
seen the floyd in Coventry at the Lacarno infact seen them a few times and some of the tribute bands....but what I was going to say was this.
I boarded a plane in spain about 4.30 am as we broke through the clouds the sunrise was spectacular I leant forward and lifted the headphones of the chair put them on and guess what Pink Floyd wish you were here I felt as one....with all things

I've been wanting to make a WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FLOYD ALBUM thread for a while, but didn't want to get flamed or anything. Silly me. ^_^
Anyway, I think that Floyd has to be separated into two different "eras." The era with Syd Barrett, and the era without him. My favorite album from the Syd era is Piper At the Gates of Dawn. This is EASILY one of my favorite albums. Many people like to give credit to just The Wall and DSOtM, as most of you have said people do, but they really should check out PAtGoD and Saucerful of Secrets, as they are both VERY good.
Piper At the Gates of Dawn just takes me back to a time I never experienced. I FEEL like I'm in the 60's when I listen to that album, blazed or not. I love it. I can sit there and listen to it and 40 minutes goes by like 40 seconds.
Anyway, my favorite album after Syd "left" is, as most of you probably already know, Dark Side of the Moon. This is easily one of the greatest albums ever made, for the genre.
Either way, Pink Floyd has the ability to make a guitar speak. It's something beautiful that they make seem so easy. Love it.

i think wish you were heres a good one. because the acaul song wish you were here kicks ass.
but i think the BEST one is the wall, it meant somthing, they were singing about the berlin wall and how stupid it was. plus all the videos with the hammers and shit looks cool.
but i never got to see it on tv cus i am only 14 and was proberly only a baby (or not born) when they wrote that album.

I know, when i went to my school after coming back from the states, there was only like 2 guys who liked classic rock, needless to say i chilled with them, every1 else were chavs lol. To be fair before i moved to the states i'd never heard of Pink Floyd which i kind find of pathetic. My friend introduced me into all this great music and like made me listen to it until i loved it and i can't thank him enough. I remember just sitting on his couch listening to 'Matilda Mother' for the first time and being like wtf lol. But he made me listen to it like over and over again till i knew all the words and now i love all of it.

my mum and dad are just into this kind of thing, they have like 500 old records, and 100 cd's, and my dad always used to tlk to me when i was young about "back in the day" when he would chill listening to all this kick ass music, and he told me how they always cooked weed in stuff like chile and they all sat around the cooker (or wotever u use) to wait for it to finsh lol. i dont think he should be angry at me smoking weed, damn hipacrict, but he said he dos'nt mind me smoking at 18. for now i have to keep it secret.
