it's called an avatar and can ve done using the Edit avatar menu item under User CP. There are size limitations, so you may have to resize your picture before uploading.

how do u resize ur pics coz most of mine are too big???

I resize in microsoft photo editor. It's pretty easy. If you don't have a photo editor, you might try MS paint.

It's one of my favorites .... but not for everyone. Rent the directors cut to see if you like it. The plot is about time travel and parallel universes and can be a little tough to understand. Great 80's feel and soundtrack. It was more popular in England than the US, not sure why.
