Always use a screen!

Well I got my first pipe today. $25. It's dark blue glass with light blue swirls around it. Anyways, I was trying it out with a friend after we bought it and didn't use a screen. This later turned out to be a bad idea. On the second bowl I was trying to get one or two last hits out of it, when all of a sudden my tongue starts to burn like hell. I had sucked one of the embers through the pipe and burnt my tongue like a dumbass.. I'm pretty sure most of you are smart enough to not do this, but let this be a warning to the new tokers (like myself).

you dont need a screen for a glass pipe just dont smoke shake or suck hard out of it until it gets good and resined up

you can get a special glass screen but it sounds like the pipe just needs some resin on it then it will stop shitting in your mouth

Resin help, but also actually packing the bowl as opposed to sticking the entire bud in it and just lighting makes a big difference. Tear a bigger piece of weed an wedge it to the sides of the bowl, right over the whole, so it completely blocks it. Then just pack weed on top of it. Towards the end of the bowl, just suck lightly, so if it drops you can stop sucking before it comes flying down your throat. Also, if its towards the end and its ashy, blow across the top, not into but across (this will remove ash but leave good bud which is heavier, in the bowl), it might not even be worth hitting if its all ash.

Also screens suck, because you resin gets split up. When you don't use a screen all the resin goes to the bowl, which provides for better hits when toking actual bud, and keeps everything together when you clean you bowl, and want to smoke the resin itself.

Actually If you realy care about ur Pipes, u would , but its all different with people. Community of SMokers who use pipes Alot of the time they dont Prefer Screens. Metally taste=/ is just one of the reason people dont like it.

just clean your pipe with formula 420 after each use.keeps it new and fresh.

Usually I find that I really don't need a screen, because I have so much damn resin in my pipe. Also, I have seen some glass screens that apparently work pretty well. Good taste, and they last forever!

I don't use a screen in my glass piece. But in my metal ones i do. I think we all get some shooting starz everyonce and awhile. I know me and everyone i know does. Be hittin that shit hella hard and blam, suck it through. Shit happens

That happened when I first got my first glass pipe... I was hitting it, and I saw this big glowing thing head from the chamber through the stem into my mouth. I was like, "WTF was that?" And then my mouth started burning and I was like, "Oh."
