Anyone who has FX, you should catch Oil Storm this Sunday. Basically it shows in horrid detail, what would happen if our Oil Supply was severed. Looks good.

Howdy XTC,
Thanx for the heads up..I'll keep my eyes open for it..I'm hoping that after you watch it,you'll understand why the world cannot leave control of a strategic asset, like oil,in the hands of a madman..or in the hands of madmen..like saddam and the mullahs of Iran.
I don't know why,it's so hard for liberals to understand that a strategic asset, like oil,is directly connected to our national security protocols and requirements. That's why the Strategic Oil Reserve, needs to be added to..not taken away from, just because of high gas prices.
Have a good one....

there's oil all over the fucking planet...we will not run out of it...not in our lifetimes...not for a very very very very very very very very very very very long time, if ever.
there's even strong evidence to support that it doesn't come exclusively from fossils and it's constantly generated by the planet, which would make more sense...which becomes almost absurd when you consider the amount of oil they would have had to produce...
the thing that will happen though is the oil companies will say we're running out regardless, people will believe them, as an excuse to deindustrialize and make the price go through the roof.

it always sucks!
i live in wilmette and on a friday it takes me an hour to get to wrigleyville.
Man I was hoping onto 55 today and it took my 20 minutes just to get on the ONRAMP. for some reason the road right next to 55 (Route 53) was down to one lane. It was chaos! because they were digging a big ass whole in the street. I could see the whole sewer system.

We would fugure out something. At least I would. Theres ethanol. If we had no oil we would just convert to electric/ethanol combination engines, they have less power but they still work. Hydroelectric Damns can produce powEr, coal, coal liquification, solar power, shale oil, EVEN HYDROGEN/OXYGEN which releases more energy that gasoline fraction pertol distillate. Shit I would just start distilling and producing myself on small personal scale with my good old copper moonshine still.

Come 'n listen to my story 'bout a man named Jed
Poor Mountaineer barely kept his family fed
An' then one day, he was shootin' at some food,
An' up thru the ground came a bubblin' crude.
Oil that is! Black gold! Texas tea!
Well, the first thing ya know, Jed's a millionaire
Kin-folk said, "Jed, move away from there." Said
Californy is the place y'oughta be, so they
loaded up the truck, and they moved to Beverly.
Hills that is! Swimmin' pools, Movie stars!
Ol' Jed bought a mansion. Lawdy it was swank
Next door neighbor was pres'dent of the bank,
Lotsa folks objected, but the banker found no fault,
'Cause ol' Jed's millions was a-layin' in the vault
Cash, that is! Capital gains, Depletion money!
Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin
An' they would like to thank you folks fer kindly droppin' in.
You're all invited back again to this locality,
T'have a heapin' helpin' of their hospitality.
Hillbilly, that is! Set a spell, Take your shoes off!
Y'all come back, here!

Howdy XTC,
Well..I tried to watch the show, but I quickly realized, that it was an anti-war message being promoted by those against the war in Iraq, and the war on terror..the part I saw,was near the end and the actors were talking about the caualties at a refinery in Saudi. I'll try and watch it from the beginning,I'm sure that they'll repeat it..maybe I'm wrong..?
Have a good one ....
The acting was horrible, but it sent a good message. You're right Torog the strategic oil is there not for for us to use at the pumps. I don't know if it will having any more airings, probably not.

There is a good message in the program. It's just amazing to see how vulnerable and unstable our great country is regarding our dependence on this black liquid for our entire economy. It's time we start REALLY looking for alternative fuel sources, but how can the industry change when the most profitable corporation on the planet (Exxon/Mobil) just happens to be an oil company? The problem is, there's still too much money in oil for anyone in the industry to want to change direction. But for the sake of getting rid of our vulnerable dependence on the finite supply of oil on this planet, not to mention to help the environment, we need to be looking for alternative sources now! If only there was a giant blazing ball of energy up in our sky that we could use for energy...
